Chapter 5 You Are Crazy
"Stop there!"
Upon hearing Edwin's order, Effie intuitively paused her footsteps.
Seeing that what she desperately wanted to happen was about to halt, Celia swiftly stood up to get in between the man and Effie. "Edwin, don't let this woman destroy our pleasure. Let us..."
"Where are you going, Mrs. Bennett?" Edwin looked at Effie with a frosty look in his eyes as if he had not heard Celia's words.
Being called Mrs. Bennett, Effie felt sick inside. Still, she maintained an innocent smile on her face, answering, "To enjoy the moon!" After pointing outside, she lifted her feet to walk.
"Don't you have anything to say when you see your husband and another woman having fun in the bridal chamber on your wedding night?"
Effie's footsteps stopped, and she wanted to tell the man how shameless and awful she saw him.
He was the worst man ever. How dare he ask her to comment on him?
However, Effie was not silly enough to judge her creditor in his face. Thus, after thinking for half a second, the woman turned to look at the man with a sincere expression and said with a smile, "Have a good time!"
"What?" Edwin's face instantly darkened.
"Or...Happy wedding?"
"Effie Fletcher!" Edwin yanked at the woman's arm and dragged her to his side. "What do you think of this marriage, and what do you think of me?"
Effie got frightened as she did not expect the man to suddenly fly into a rage and even come up with these stupid questions.
Edwin was a handsome man indeed. How come he was so foolish?
"Mr. Bennett, are you alright? This marriage is originally a trade for us to take what we need. Don't tell me that..."
"What if I don't see it as a trade?"
"That's your own business!" Effie looked at him with a serious look in her eyes, saying, "Anyway, I've done everything I should do, and you..."
"But I haven't done what I should do yet!" Edwin looked back at the woman with a gloomy expression on his face. Before Effie could realize what was going on, the man picked her up and turned around to throw her onto the bed.
Effie was shocked. Before she figured out how to react, the man pressed down on her body.
"Edwin, you crazy! Get off me!"
Witnessing what was going on, Celia hurried to try to curb its development. "Edwin, what are you doing?" While pulling Edwin with one hand, Celia secretly gave Effie a gruff twist on her leg.
Effie screamed in pain, then bit Edwin's shoulder hard with anger. This time, she used all her strength, and Edwin snorted in agony and simultaneously loosened his grip on the woman.
Taking the chance, Effie lifted her leg to kick Edwin hard, then jumped out of bed and ran out.
Covering his shoulder, Edwin looked somberly in the woman's escape direction. The expression on his face was extremely complicated and mixed with remorse, anger, and incomprehension. Particularly, he felt exed as he had lost control of himself.
Edwin had always been a calm person ever since he was a boy. Except for the time when his mother died, he had never gone wild. However, he lost control twice in succession on this day due to that woman.
Although he hated her, he understood that she was a victim as well.
"Gosh. Edwin, you're bleeding again!" Celia stared at the man's blood-stained shoulder in horror. "I'll get the medical kit for you."
"Get out!"
"What did you say?" Celia abruptly paused her pace and looked surprised at the man she loved to her bones.
"Get out!"
"Edwin, you ask me to get out? Do you scold me because of that woman? I..."
As the man glanced coldly at Celia, the woman's face, which was full of anger and grievance, suddenly froze.
Celia managed to tamp down the roaring waves of fury in her heart and cast a loath glance at the king-sized bed that she could have laid upon. Then, after looking at the man, whose facial expression was livid and ferocious, the woman hesitated and left reluctantly.
At this moment, Effie rushed back to the guest room she was assigned and locked the door, daring not to go out again. All she wanted to do was to wait for the dawn to come so that she could divorce the devil and never see him for a second time.
