Chapter 16 The Slander
Three days later...
The test results were released.
With her school number in mind, Alyssa checked the list from the top and instantly saw her name in the tenth place.
Alyssa curled up her lips in relief and felt lucky that all her efforts over the last half a month paid off.
Mission completed! She could not wait to see Mrs. Hunter and the others' expressions when they learned the news.
Then, she thought about how to tell Leon the excellent message.
Bang!
Two hands slammed hard on Alyssa's desk.
Alyssa lifted her head to look into a pair of disdainful, cold eyes.
"Alyssa, you must have cheated. Otherwise, you'll be listed at the bottom as always. How the hell did you get the 10th place?"
"Exactly! You must have cheated. Alyssa, what did you do?"
Alyssa raised her head to look at the person who was slapping hard on her desk, and her expression suddenly froze.
Seeing that Alyssa became expressionless all of a sudden, the two girls took several steps backward intuitively.
Alyssa moved forward and stared at the taller girl.
The girl shrank timidly. "What do you want? Why are you approaching me like this?"
"Did you see me cheating?" Alyssa cornered the person and raised her arms to trap her.
Looking at Alyssa, the tall girl shook her head.
Alyssa remained expressionless and glanced at other students around with a grave look in her eyes. "Did any of you see me cheating?"
The freezing vibe Alyssa gave off immediately muted the onlookers and forced them to step back in unison.
The taller girl avoided looking into Alyssa's freezing eyes, then said, "I am not the instigator. It's Emily. She said you must have cheated to get such great grades."
"Okay, since it's from Emily. Let's go confront Emily right now! If it's not the case, I will definitely let you pay the price."
While speaking, Alyssa twisted the other girl's arm.
Being grasped by Alyssa, the tall girl found herself unable to break free. She looked at Alyssa in fear, pleading, "I was wrong. It has nothing to do with me. I've just repeated Emily's statement. And I was angry because of the seeming inequity. I didn't see anything. Please let me go."
When the girl managed to finish her words, Alyssa and she walked up to Emily in the crowd.
Before Emily could run away, Alyssa rushed over to her front and stopped her from leaving.
"Emily, where are you going?"
Emily raised her head with a sneer, replying, "You must have misread the situation. I'm not going anywhere."
"That's better. This girl told me that you accused me of cheating. Did you?"
"I didn't say anything like that. I'm afraid there is a misunderstanding between us."
Alyssa glanced at Emily's composed expression and then grabbed the tall girl, who was trembling with fear. "Tell me, did Emily say I cheated or not?"
The tall girl shook her head nervously, replying, "It's merely hearsay. I don't know..."
"Did you hear that? She said she had no idea and that it's just hearsay. Can anyone prove that I accused you of cheating?" Emily looked at Alyssa with a smile. "If you don't have any evidence, don't talk nonsense. And if you continue slandering me like this, I'll inform the teacher!"
"I can prove that you framed Alyssa for cheating. Not only did I hear what you said about how Alyssa achieved such great grades when I passed by your classroom, but I've also recorded it. Do you want me to play the recording here and now?"
Ella walked out of the crowd and took out her mobile phone to play the recording about the slander she happened to hear and collect.
Soon, the voices of Emily and the others gossiping about Alyssa's grades came out from the phone.
"I'm telling you, Alyssa must have cheated. There is simply no other way for her to obtain those grades. I mean, she has gone too far."
"I think so too. Otherwise, how could she have jumped from the bottom directly to the top?"
"That's what we should ask Alyssa about. I'm curious how on earth she has made it."
