Chapter 6 Threat

Jingle...

As soon as Sophia got out of the club, her cell phone rang. She took a glance and saw the call was from her little brother, Ethan Miller.

She snuffled, cooled down, and then answered the phone, "Hi, Ethan, what's wrong?"

"So, you are Ethan's sister?" Rather than the familiar voice of her brother, it was a fierce voice of a strange man that came from the other end.

"Who is this? Why is Ethan's phone in your hands?" She was alarmed.

"Heh heh, girl, you can call me Savage. I tell you what, your brother gambled in our casino and owed us 200,000 yuan. Either you come and claim him with the money, or... he-he."

"Gamble? No way! My brother is a good kid and would never go to a place like a casino!"

"Really? How about I let him talk to you..." Then there came a thwack and a grunt, "Kid, talk to your sister, looks like she doesn't believe me."

"Sophia, don't care about me. It's all my fault. I lost all the money for our mother's medical expenses. Just let me die." Ethan sobbed in a hoarse voice. It was indeed him.

Her head drummed as if she was struck by lightning, and her daze lasted a long time.

Ethan... he lost all the money for their mother's medical expenses?

She worked so hard for so long and endured humiliation every day. Her hard-earned money was all gone?

"Ethan, this... this is not real, right? It's just a joke, right?"

"I'm sorry, Sophia, I'm distressed to see you working so hard every day. I heard that fast money could be made from gambling. I thought as long as I could win once, we'll have enough money for our mother's medical expenses. Unexpectedly... I didn't expect..."

"Ah!" He cried in pain halfway through his speech.

"Enough for your crap." The fierce voice came over again amid Ethan's painful groan.

"Ethan!" Sophia grasped the phone anxiously and trembled violently, "What are you doing? Let Ethan go!"

"We can let him go when you bring us 200,000 yuan in full."

"Okay! Give... give me your address. I'll bring you the money right away." She disregarded everything for her brother. Even if it would be a desperate fight, she couldn't watch him die.

"That's more like it, but girl, I need to warn you. If you dare to call the police, come and collect your brother's dead body."

Beep... the phone was hung up.

Sophia couldn't help but collapse to the ground. 200,000 yuan... where could she get so much money?

As a noise came from the entrance of the club, she raised her head and looked over. Leading the group was a man in a well-ironed business suit. Attended by the crowd, the dashing man walked forward.

Jim.

A pale light appeared in her eyes. That man could help her.

Sophia wiped the tears off her cheeks, gritted her teeth, got to her feet, walked up, and stood in front of him.

Her reddish eyes glittered under the moonlight. Her nose looked delicate and tall. Her cherry lips decorated her fair face. Overall, she looked pitiful.

Jim narrowed his eyes and sized her up ardently. He had to admit that this woman could still attract him after seven years, but...

"Sophia, is this what you mean by not seeing me again?"
