Chapter 19 Money Is No Object

When she came to Ethan's rescue yesterday, she went straight to the underground area of the casino. That place was dim, depressing, and somewhere she would not set foot on again. This time, however, she followed Jim into the lobby through the main entrance. Only then did she find the casino much larger than she had imagined.

The resplendent decoration and dazzling chandeliers above highlighted the extravagant atmosphere.

A simple glance around terrified her.

The owner should be backed by a strong power to run such a large casino at such a good location. If she knew Ethan offended such a great power beforehand, she wouldn't have had the guts to deceive those men.

But...

Though powerful, they were daunted by Jim's reputation and let her go. What kind of power did the man in front of her hold?

Seven years ago, he was just an average second-generation rich.

"Mr. Brown, if you tell me beforehand, I could have received you properly." A middle-aged man with slicked-back hair and in business suit rushed up before bowing to Jim flatteringly.

"I'm here just for fun. No need to breathe a word about it." Jim took an indifferent glance at the man.

"Yes, yes, shall I arrange your VIP room?"

"That won't be necessary. I'll just wander around the lobby, no need to entertain me."

"Huh?" The eyes of the man with sleek hair swiveled, and then he smiled obsequiously, "Okay, okay, Mr. Brown, let me know if you need anything. Well, have a good time."

Following his speech, the man straightened up and gazed at Sophia for a second with his fox's eyes.

Sophia felt depressed. People in this casino were so polite to Jim. Looked like this was not his first trip here. Seven years of separation had changed him into a playboy?

Last time they met in a bar, and now here they were at a casino.

Jim, how did you become so strange to me?

While she was in a daze, a black card dropped into her palm.

The black card was a symbol of status and not available to every rich man. She used to work in a bar and had seen various rich and powerful people, so she certainly knew about the card.

"Well..." The black card was still warm, and her heart skipped a beat.

Jim glanced at her indifferently and sneered, "Don't think too much, it's not for you." He then pointed to the counter for chips exchange, "See that place? Go exchange 50 million yuan's worth of chips for me."

"How... how much?" Her ears drummed. She thought it was her hallucination.

The sarcasm at the corner of his lips became more distinct. Devilishly lowering his head, he attached his fervent lips to her ear and inadvertently touched her tender skin.

"50 million, Miss Miller, clear enough? No need to be so surprised, money is no object for me. I can give you as much as you want, as long as... you perform well tonight."

There was a strong implication in his remark.

Her heart agitated with his approach stopped racing in an instant.

She gritted her teeth and glared at the man. His current look was a sharp contrast to his tenderness just now.

She must be crazy to find him gentle.

"Jim, you jerk!" She cursed from her gritted teeth, turned around, and ran off.

As he watched the leaving figure, his eyes went dim and his big hands hanging at the sides clenched tightly.
