Chapter 10 I'm Shameless
After finishing those ruthless words, Emma proudly stepped out of the Brooks Family villa. Before she got into the car, she looked back at the house's gate with her long eyes squinted, and the expression in her eyes was gloomy.
Soon after Emma drove away, the woman got a phone call from the hospital. After hanging up, she looked blankly ahead as if she had been drained of energy, and her face became shockingly pale.
At 3:00 p.m. in a corner cafe...
A handsome man in a white shirt walked in the box and said with a smile, "I knew you would come to me but didn't expect it to be so soon."
"That one million, I want it now."
"Here it is." A card was placed on the table, and Leon continued with his brows raised. "When you finish the task smoothly, you'll get a bonus."
Emma was slightly surprised, asking, "Aren't you afraid that I will disappear with the money?"
"You have an uncle, don't you? Monks flee; temples remain."
Gritting her teeth, Emma flashed a sneer at the foxy man, then said, "What if I fail the mission?"
"You won't fail. I'm confident in my vision." Leon replied with a smile, "I'll arrange for you to be my brother's secretary. It happens that one female assistant of his got fired."
"Secretary?"
"Yes, you don't think my brother is as stupid as your previous clients, do you? He's a wise man. You will start from working as his secretary to approach him gradually." Leon gave a sidelong glance at Emm and said wryly, "If you want to climb into his bed right now..."
"Nasty!" Emma interrupted the man with a frosty look in her eyes. "Shameless!"
"Sure, I'm nasty and shameless, and I shouldn't say this much. But, please, Miss Brooks, show me some respect, alright? Anyhow, I am the president of Star Space Entertainment. Fortunately, there are no others in the room. Otherwise, I would be disgraced."
In Emma's view, Leon was flirtatious, straightforward, and a bit playful, but she genuinely appreciated his generosity.
"I'll go to work tomorrow."
"No, you must get it started right now."
"What?" Emma widened her eyes open. Was it this urgent?
"I've told Assistant Rogers that you'll show up at the company at four."
"Four? But it's already 3:30." Actually, Leon himself got half an hour late. But he insisted that Emma shall arrive at N.S Group's headquarters at four.
"What's the matter with him?" Emma wondered.
"I'm serious. Hurry up and don't get late! Don't worry. It's not the rush hour so that you won't be stuck in a traffic jam."
Emma knew it was useless to argue with Leon. Thus, she swiftly picked up the bank card and her bag, then left.
Sitting in the chair and looking at Emma's departing back, Leon laughed secretly and thought that a good show was about to begin.
...
The headquarters of N.S Group was located in the heart of City Y. It was a twenty-eight-story building, and the entire high-rise belonged to N.S.
The receptionist was pretty and elegant, and the people coming and going were all smart. From Emma's perspective, the entire building was filled with an elite air.
Emma learned before that employees of N.S.'s headquarters were all doctors or masters from top universities. Presumably, even the receptionist had a decent educational background. Each year, countless candidates tried hard to get a ticket to work for the group.
It should not be easy for Leon to arrange for Emma to be Wilson's secretary, especially because Wilson was the group's general manager.
In principle, nepotism or private employment were strictly forbidden in the N.S Group.
After sitting in the lounge area on the first floor nervously, Emma saw a tall man walking to her. "Which of you is Emma?"
"I am."
"I am the assistant of the general manager. You can call me Assistant Rogers. Please follow me this way."
"Okay."
