Contemporary Romance>The Tester of Marriage>Chapter 11 Flattery
Chapter 11 Flattery
When Emma and Assistant Rogers arrived at the twenty-eighth floor, the latter pointed to the innermost office, which looked low-key yet luxurious, then said, "Although Leon recommended you, the general manager still wants to interview you in person. Don't be nervous, though. You have to answer some simple questions."
Emma swallowed and thought indignantly to herself, "Why didn't Leon mention that there would be an interview? And the interviewer is the big boss himself. Leon really should have told me so that I could be mentally prepared."
Emma was somewhat scared. However, she had already accepted the money. She hoped to find out Wilson's sexual orientation as soon as possible and then leave.
After taking a deep breath, Emma walked towards the innermost office with a death-defying attitude.
Knock, knock.
"Come in."
The emotionless voice was mellow, pleasant to hear but intimidating.
Emma took little steps to enter the room with her eyes lowered and did not dare to look at the man. After stopping in front of the desk, she said, "President Hayes, I'm Emma, your new secretary."
Wilson instructed without taking his eyes off the computer screen. "Please make me a cup of coffee."
"Yes, sir." With that, Emma hurried to make coffee as if she had been freed and relieved.
On her way towards the general manager's office, she noticed an exclusive coffee room next door.
After Emma stepped out of the room, Wilson raised his eyes involuntarily. For some reason, he felt the new secretary familiar, especially the vibe she gave off and her steps when she walked out.
Wilson shook his head, curled up his lips indifferently, and then continued reading the project plan sent over by Noah.
Emma used to major in financial management at the C University of Country Z and minor in a foreign language. If she had not been betrayed by James and abandoned by her father Benson, she would not have dropped out early, much less become a marriage tester.
Although being Wilson's secretary was stressful, it was nothing technically difficult for her.
After handing the man the brewed coffee carefully, Emma kept her head lowered, trying not to let the man see her appearance.
When the man reached out to take the coffee, the corners of Emma's eyes shivered. Wilson was not only handsome and charming but had slender, beautiful hands. It was a waste that he did not become a pianist.
"You?"
A frosty, standoffish voice penetrated Emma's ears.
Wilson took a sip of the coffee, which tasted just fine. A gleam of brilliance swiftly crossed his cold, dark eyes when he said, "I thought your name was Edith Porter."
Emma's heart skipped a beat. She forced herself to calm down and replied in a grave tone of voice, "Edith Porter is indeed my name, but so is Emma."
Actually, Wilson did not care what the woman's name was. What he did care about was, "Why do you want to be my secretary? I thought you wanted to apply for a job at the Lawrence Group."
Emma's experiences as a marriage tester told her that the man was deliberately making fun of her.
After faking a cough, Emma took a step back, then said, "I weighed and considered, then decided that I should try the N.S Group. N.S is one of the top companies in the country. It will be my honor to work here."
Emma knew that flattery always worked.
Although she was still unclear about Wilson's temperament, she was sure that the flattery would not hurt.
Wilson said nothing but drank the coffee. His movements were elegant, dignified, majestic, and noble. Emma found it hard to take her eyes off him.
If Emma had not dealt with many handsome men and young talents over the years, she would have become the same as those nymphomaniacs.
