Chapter 12 Watch the Coffee
"Nice coffee." Wilson praised, then gazed at Emma with a frosty expression in his eyes, which made the woman almost broke out in a cold sweat.
The man's aura was too scary and freezing for Emma to stand any longer.
At this moment, Wilson slowly took his knife-like gaze off the woman, then said indifferently, "The trial period is one month. If your performance is not good enough, you'll be fired at any time."
Emma heaved a sigh of relief and replied with her eyes lowered. "Thanks for giving me this chance. I will work hard and won't let you down."
"Good."
Wilson did not make things difficult for Emma because of what happened last night, and the latter hurried out of the office.
It was easier and simpler to work as Wilson's secretary rather than a special assistant. Emma's primary duties included making coffee, sorting out files, reminding Wilson of his schedule, and so on.
Her monthly salary was 20,000 yuan, which was quite decent.
The salary explained why so many people wanted to work at N.S. so much.
Emma decided to work hard to make Wilson let down his guard so that she could find out if he had gamophobia.
"What's on your mind?"
The frosty, straightforward question and Wilson's sudden appearance made Emma shiver and pour the coffee in her hand upon her coat.
The man dodged nimbly and was not affected in the least. "Secretary Brooks, watch your coffee."
Emma bit her bottom lip and glared at the man. Immediately, she became aware of the status gap between her as a secretary and the man as the boss. The woman hurried to calm herself down and replied in a soft voice, "President Hayes, I thought that it's time for you to get off work."
From 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Wilson had four cups of coffee. Was he not worried about insomnia?
However, Emma dared not speak out her thoughts loud as she was just a new employee.
Witnessing the woman squatting on the floor and carefully cleaning up the mess, Wilson furrowed his sword-shaped, dark brows and said, "Go change your clothes. You're attending a cocktail party with me in a while."
"Huh?"
Wilson did not bother to explain more and directly instructed Assistant Rogers to send over an evening dress.
As N.S was located in the center of City Y, it was effortless to purchase a dress. Soon, Assistant Rogers delivered the dress and put it outside Wilson's dressing room. "Secretary Brooks, the dress is outside. See you around."
Sitting on the sofa in the dressing room, Emma widened her eyes open, which was her habit while thinking. It was her first day to work at N.S, and Wilson maintained an aloof attitude towards her. Why the hell did he want to bring her to a party?
Besides, Emma had learned through media that Wilson, the N.S's general manager, rarely attended business events such as a cocktail party. Why was he...
"Hurry up!" Wilson suddenly opened the door of the dressing room and threw in a delicate bag. "We'll leave at six forty."
Of course, Emma dared not delay Wilson's schedule and hurried to get changed in the gorgeous dress. Its size was just fine, and its color was nice too.
When she opened the door to the dressing room with some embarrassment, Emma saw the man sitting in the chair and staring at the documents in his hand with a frown. She said softly, "Thank you, President Hayes."
Wilson looked up and saw Emma in an ice-blue lace dress with a pink belt around her waist, and the belt had twelve crystals, pretty and elegant.
The dress was covered with a layer of ice-like spotless, transparent gauze. Emma's dark, long hair was hanging about her shoulders. The expression in her bright pupils was hinged with the color of unease, her long eyelashes fluttering faintly. Her fair, flawless skin was slightly reddish, and her thin lips were like two pieces of rose petals, delicate and tender. In an instant, Wilson was stunned by Emma's beauty.
