Chapter 13 The Chance Encounter
Wilson narrowed his dark eyes, saying, "Well, good."
At his comment, Emma heaved a sigh of relief.
Was it just good? Emma knew she was not bad-looking and had a fair temperament. She should look quite gorgeous in such a decent dress.
Emma was confident in her countenance and figure. Otherwise, she would not have become the chief marriage tester.
She followed behind Wilson, sighing at his lack of vision. Even the expression in the man's eyes did not change in the least at Emma's beauty.
At the same time, Wilson walked before Emma and tried hard to conceal the rolling heat and desire in his eyes. A certain part of his lower body immediately erected when he saw the woman's bright red lips. If he had not covered it up well, he would have exposed his real thoughts.
It was Emma's duty to drive the car. However, Wilson glanced at her dress and said in a disdainful tone of voice, "Are you sure you can make it?" Then, he got seated before the steering wheel.
Apparently, he distrusted her.
After pausing for one second, Emma said tenderly, "Thanks, President Hayes."
They did not exchange a word during the ride. Emma had no idea what kind of party they were attending as it was not on the schedule.
When the vehicle stopped in front of an estate, Emma could not help widening her eyes when she saw its name Chateau Elan.
The number one winery in Country Z. Michelle Elan, its owner, was a half Chinese and half English woman leading a legendary life.
"Let's go." Wilson opened the car door and got out of it himself.
Emma snapped out of her shock and was about to open the door when the man did it for her.
She was puzzled and startled, saying, "President Hayes?"
Somehow, Emma dared not get off the vehicle as President Hayes, the noble and standoffish boss, personally opened the door for her.
"Get out of the car."
Wilson's voice remained frosty, indifferent, and emotionless.
Emma then got out of the car in silence and followed the man respectfully and meekly.
Emma was not a timid, weak female. But, she was clear that those attendees at a party held at Chateau Elan must all be wealthy and influential. To avoid being recognized and arousing rumors, she decided to maintain a low profile.
However, it seemed that Wilson did not intend to make things easy for Emma. He turned around to stare at her lowered eyelashes, then said without considering her thoughts. "Those people we are meeting are important. Behave yourself."
"Who are we meeting exactly?" The woman asked cautiously.
Wilson was somehow in a good mood and curled up his lips while replying, "Noah, the Lane Group's general manager, Claude Evans from the Evans Group, and James Pearson from M Company."
James Pearson?
Emma's pace paused abruptly.
Why was James attending such a fancy cocktail party?
M Company was about the same size as Q Group, with funds less than 50 million yuan. And the Lane Group and the Evans Group followed closely to N.S. James should not be qualified to be here.
Emma glanced at the man suspiciously, who looked freezing and indifferent, then asked, "Tonight's cocktail party... Is it a business event?"
"Yes." Wilson replied in a light tone of voice, "Chateau Elan's security is good. No reporters will get in."
However, that was not what Emma worried about. She was wondering why was James, that snobbish, heartless scumbag, here?
Nevertheless, Emma could do nothing to change her current status. She was the secretary accompanying Wilson.
The event was arranged in the hanging hall behind the winery, where people could see what was going on in the garden below clearly.
Noah sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, saw the frosty, proud figure standing not far away, and curled up his lips slightly. "Wilson is here."
