Chapter 13 In Love
Ryan raised his brows slightly and replied in a careless tone of voice, "I don't mind your origins. What I like is you as an individual, and liking you is my personal matter. I don't like others to sway me. As for my family, you don't have to worry at all. They are very open-minded. As long as it's someone I like, they will like her too."
"..."
Seeing that all her efforts to persuade the man came in vain, Sophia turned around and left.
Ryan followed Sophia's lead with an elegant stride, like her shadow.
Evan drove the car and followed behind them at a snail's speed.
Seeing what was going on, Sophia furrowed her brows slightly. Also, she felt somewhat sore in her arm holding the wooden box.
She asked for a black plastic bag from a sanitation worker and put the wooden box into it.
Both Sophia and Ryan had stunning looks, thus they attracted double attention while walking along the road.
Sophia's frown deepened. Then, she looked at Ryan expressionlessly, asking, "What the hell do you want?"
Ryan judged from the woman's annoyed expression that Sophia was losing her patience. Then, he replied to her in a gentle tone of voice, "Where are you going? I'll give a ride."
Sophia did not enjoy those onlookers' attention at all. After a short hesitation, she walked towards the vehicle at a snail's speed behind her.
Ryan curled up his lips slightly and walked up to pull open the door of the rear seat.
Sophia got in first, and Ryan followed behind. As the door closed, the vehicle drove down the road and merged into the traffic.
Sitting in the back seat, Sophia detailed the Anderson family's address, and the car headed in the direction.
Although Ryan had just arrived in Golden City, he knew that address belonged to an affluent villa area.
How could someone from a rural area live in a rich neighborhood?
Ryan looked at Sophia with a faint smile, while Sophia shrugged her shoulders with a frank expression. She indeed lived in a rural area before she was eighteen.
She was not lying about that.
At this point, Ryan's phone rang. Sophia had no idea what the other person said on the other end of the line, but it seemed to be something urgent.
After the call, Ryan took his laptop out and wore a Bluetooth headset to process his business.
Sophia did not disturb him, turned her head to look at the traffic outside the window, and her long, slender fingers gently rubbed her eyelids.
In the previous life, her eyes were gouged out. She had not seen the outside world for a long, long period.
Bitter hatred flashed across Sophia's eyes. The memories of her deathbed came up like tidal waves and finally framed in the scene of demise.
Sophia's hands were clenched, her knuckles went pale, her palms were stung by her nails, and her eyes were filled with hostility.
Sophia did not know that there was a dense, dark gas flashing in her body, which was quickly absorbed by the Tai-Chi Jade Amulet, so fast that even Ryan did not notice.
Although the Tai-Chi Jade Amulet absorbed the dark energy, it was still dull. A closer look at it would lead to the finding that it was about to be split into a black half and a white half.
Twenty minutes later, the vehicle stopped in front of the villa area. Sophia pushed open the car door, ready to get out. Just then, Ryan suddenly said, "I still do not know your name."
Sophia raised her brows and rolled her eyes quietly. How could the man claim to make a move on her before even knowing her name?
Ryan seemed to be able to read her mind and slightly raised his brows too. Without the slightest embarrassment in his face, he looked at Sophia for her answer.
Sophia eventually spoke out her name in a somewhat annoyed tone of voice.
"Sophia Anderson."
With that, she slammed the car door and headed towards the Andersons' villa with that black plastic bag in hand.
Sophia had been much stronger than before since she practiced the Heaven-Earth Formula, and the force with which she flung the car door shut was shockingly great. As a result, the entire car shook faintly in place.
Evan thought to himself, Miss Anderson was really moody. If she were someone else, his boss would probably teach her a hard lesson.
Evan looked at Ryan cautiously through the rearview mirror and did not detect the slightest annoyance upon the latter's face. Instead, Ryan slightly curled his lips up with a hint of laughter.
Seeing Ryan's uncommon performance, Evan shivered all over.
Ryan was never a smiler and rarely flashed a smile all year round. However, the number of smiles he flashed on this day was larger than of smiles he revealed in a year.
