Chapter 20 Unable to Refute
Just because of Arlo, Victoria did such a crazy thing. Besides, Camila had been rejecting the man.
"Camila, I tell you what, stop faking pitiful. I admit that I was behind it but have no regrets, nor will I apologize because... you should pay for stealing my man!"
Victoria turned sideways and whispered coldly in her ear. The expression on her face showed how much she hated Camila. This girl was a terror. Luckily, Camila rejected Arlo, otherwise, who knew what Victoria would do!
Devastated to face such a maniac, Camila bit her lower lip tightly and knitted her eyebrows.
"You're sick! When did I ever steal your man? As I said, I have no connections with him."
"Anyway, since he likes you, I should... destroy you. Heh heh, for the record, you'd better not let him know about this, or you don't know... what will happen."
Camila felt a shiver down her spine and broke into a cold sweat. As a victim of her dirty tricks, she knew that Victoria's next move would not be that simple.
Following her threat, Victoria walked away and looked back at her with a creepy smirk. Camila froze there at a loss. The corners of her eyes wetted, and she tried her best to calm down.
'What should I do? If I fight back, I'll face graver danger. If I don't speak up, I'll have to face the vicious gossip on campus.'
Camila was cornered again. No one could help her, and she knew it well that she couldn't beat Victoria.
Born in an official family, Victoria was not too powerful or rich but had been spoiled by her parents. In her mind, there was nothing she couldn't get, human included. As a regular customer of entertainment places, she made friends with punks and threw her weight around the campus...
"Camila, why are you sitting here?"
Joan pushed open the dormitory door and got in, only to find Camila sitting motionlessly in a chair and staring out the window.
"Huh? Oh... nothing."
Camila snapped out of the daze and prevaricated. She was hesitating whether to tell Joan because it might cause her trouble.
Joan didn't press, and they started chitchat. However, at that moment, Camila's nerves were jangling and her heart filled with resentment for Victoria.
"Camila, there is another thing I want to ask you. Who... is the man with you that night?"
"I... I've no idea. I don't know him. He left when I woke up the following day."
This topic agitated her even more. She almost freaked out at the thought of that unruly dandy...
At that moment, Harden was sneezing on a leather sofa. Seemingly, God blessed him when Camila cursed him inwardly.
"Sir, do you need patulin?"
His assistant Spencer Cruise stood there, noticed his condition, and asked with concern.
Lost in thought, Harden didn't answer. With an anxious expression, he raised his wrist, checked the time, slowly got up, and faced a mirror to adjust his tie.
Was he going to some important event?
