Chapter 5 Her Heart Skipped a Beat
Seth understood that it was because the coffee was spilled. The strict boss would never tolerate such a thing.
"Sir, I'll get a new cup for you." Seth saved her from the trouble.
The special assailant carried the coffee away, and Taylor followed him out.
She closed the door and heaved a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, Claude didn't recognize her as the woman getting on his bed last night.
Thank God!
Seth brought in another cup of coffee, came out, and walked up, "You're fired!"
"What?" Taylor was struck dumb, "Why?"
"No one in our secretary department has ever dared to send spilled coffee to our boss. You are the first one and got under his skin. So, you're no longer needed here!" Seth said seriously.
Taylor got anxious and hurriedly put her palms together to plead, "Sir, please don't fire me. A big family, including the old and the little, depends on me to live!"
"Aren't you too young to have both old and little ones?" Seth looked at Taylor, who fabricated her hardship, held back his laughter, and maintained a solemn expression.
"It's true. When I was 18, my first love gave birth to a son, and he is two this year. As for my parents, their poor health pulls them back from the workplace. I also have a mentally challenged brother, a prodigal sister, and four grandparents..." She lied without batting an eyelid.
"Enough!" Seth lifted his finger to stop her from chirping.
As the assistant didn't relent, Taylor blinked her eyes pitifully, "Forgive me this once, please!"
A man could be so whiny? Seth got goosebumps.
"You should ask for our boss's forgiveness!" He pointed to the CEO's Office.
She didn't really have the guts to get back there.
"What, don't you have a big family to support?" Seth teased with a faint smile.
Taylor weighed her options and bit the bullet.
She knocked on the door and got in reverently after getting the permission of her boss.
Her feet felt like lead when she itched her way towards the desk.
In the office, she squirmed for quite a while before venturing to ask, "Sir, could I keep my job here? I was born in a low-income family and really needed this..."
"Who wants to fire you?" Claude raised his head, his deep eyes unfathomable.
"Ah, you won't?" A delighted Taylor abruptly raised her head and met his eyes.
In an instant, her heart skipped a beat!
The man was staring at her attentively.
"No!" There was a hint of imperceptible indulgence in his cool tone.
Taylor perked up to hear that.
"Well, sir, please excuse me," Taylor said respectfully.
Claude hummed blandly.
Taylor peeked at the man and turned to leave.
No sooner had she taken a few steps than the boss spoke again, "Wait!"
"What may I be of service?" Taylor turned back affably and looked at the man expectantly.
The statuesque man stood up from the leather chair and walked up slowly.
The warm sunlight slanted in through the window and gilded him. The scene was breathtaking.
Her eyelids trembled as she found his approaching abnormal.
"S... sir..." She stuttered nervously.
Claude came up, looked down at her, and spoke slowly in a deep attractive voice, "Raise your head."
