Chapter 3 Probably Not Him
"Yes, sir!" The person on the other end of the phone sounded scared. Should a woman sneak into the room of his boss?
Back at her apartment, Alice had a shower and hit the sack.
At 3 p.m., she was still asleep. That horrible man drained every pit of her energy last night!
In her drowsiness, she heard a knock on the door. It became clearer as she was waking up.
Who the hell was knocking on her door? She hadn't shopped anything online recently, so it shouldn't be the delivery man.
In her cartoon pajamas, she went over, peeked through the cat eye, and felt safe to open the door. Then her bosom friend Molly Levine came in.
Molly pulled her to the sofa, sat down, and asked excitedly, "Alice, tell me about it, how did things go last night?"
"Molly, you rush here just for this?" Alice said languidly.
"Alice, confess! Did you sleep with Ruben last night?" Molly asked with an impish smile.
Alice knew that she couldn't avoid it.
"Mm, sort of." She answered helplessly.
"Really? Wow, Alice, you're no longer the odd one in our dorm!" Molly said in a relieved tone.
"Only you girls take it so ritualistically... It could be done after marriage..." Alice said.
"No! It's unreliable if you do it upon marriage. What if you're not meant for each other? What should you do? Divorce?" Molly shook her head.
"Thankfully, you took my advice last night! How about it? Is Ruben hotter in person?"
But Alice looked pale and grieved.
"What's wrong? Ruben processed his photos and looks average?" Molly pressed.
Alice recalled that flawless face from last night, but his eyes were terrifying. Overall, the man looked quite different from her impression in the past three months.
He was like a different person!
"Alice, what's wrong? Last night, Ruben and you..."
"Molly, I'm very tired. Can we talk about it later?" Alice pleaded.
"Poor thing, I'm not forcing you! Never mind..." Molly smiled.
"I'm going back to school! See you tomorrow!"
"Okay, I'll see you at school tomorrow." Alice saw her off.
This apartment was rented by her and a friend. Now Alice was an undergraduate of a film academy and worked part-time as an assistant in a celebrity agency.
Five minutes later, she quickly washed up, walked into the bedroom, and turned on her cell phone that had been charged up.
Ten WeChat messages from Ruben immediately came in.
He asked her why she stood him up and complained that he waited for her all night.
What happened last night was agonizing. Her chastity was taken by force.
And he had the nerve to say that he waited for her all night?
In her anger, Alice ignored the messages. The solution hadn't come to mind yet.
Since her roommate, Freya Hendrix, would come back from her hometown today, she planned to buy some ingredients from the community supermarket and cook dinner.
While Alice was absently wandering in the supermarket, a man was reading her profile.
At that moment, Caper was sitting in his office on the top floor of a building erected in the most prosperous financial and commercial district. With a cold face, he slid the screen with his fingertip. When the cigarette between the fingers of his left hand burned out, he got up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
It was already dark, and the street lamps illuminated the commercial district.
Alice, a freshman of Flying Dream Academy, had divorced parents, a half-sister, and a half-brother...
Caper skimmed through the information and turned back to Dexter, "Found the person behind the curtain?"
