Chapter 11 The Vindictive Man

"Okay." Gabrielle nodded with a quiet laugh.

"What are you laughing at?" Joyce frowned with a fit of smoldering anger invited by the woman's disinterest, making her feel like a clown.

Being irritated, Gabrielle furrowed her eyebrows and replied with sarcasm, "Miss Smith, it's hard to find a three-legged toad in this world, but there are two-legged men everywhere. I truly do not care about the person whom you treasure as a pearl. If you keep hassling me, don't blame me for being rude!"

"You!" As Joyce clenched her hands in anger, her wrist suddenly felt painful. She did not dare to offend Gabrielle for fear that the latter would harm her again.

Joyce had never seen such a difficult woman before. In the past, it was easy for her to deal with those women around Ben, including Gabrielle, his wife. But this woman was so tough, and Ben's attitude towards her was unusual...

Joyce did not have the nerve to swear Gabrielle but glared at her. It was the first time in so many years that she felt a sense of crisis.

"Tom, dinner is still not ready?" Ben's voice suddenly sounded.

Being startled, Gabrielle subconsciously turned around.

The man with a perfectly proportioned body walked down while smoothing his cuffs.

He cast a gaze at her with a serious-looking face.

Gabrielle felt his eyes were as deep and dark as a pool and as profound as the boundless sky.

She panicked somehow. When did he come down? Did he hear what she just said?

What did she say?

The two-legged men...

"Ben, you're down." Joyce put on a tender smile, "I'll have a look at Rachel..."

"No need." Ben remained his expressionless gaze at Gabrielle and ordered, "You go."

"Me?" Gabrielle knitted her brows as she was not used to be ordered.

Ben walked up to her and stared at her with a condescending look, "If not you, me? Miss Zane, don't forget I hire you to serve my daughter."

Gabrielle had to obey, regardless of her reluctance, "Yes."

She turned to go upstairs while cursing in her mind, "Vindictive man! Hope your sons have no penis!"

She regretted it immediately.

After dinner, Gabrielle intended to go home quickly as she missed her sons so much.

But before she left, she ran into Joyce.

"Miss Zane, have you seen Rachel? I just saw her come downstairs, but she disappeared in the blink of an eye!" It was an anxious look on Joyce's face, "What if something has happened to her? I'm so worried!"

At Joyce's words, Gabrielle asked with concern, "Where did you last see Rachel?"

Joyce pointed at the underground passage, "There."

Gabrielle rushed over but stopped when she reached the passage, "You're not lying to me, are you?"

She was so worried that she almost forgot to think if it was a trap.

Frozen for a second, Joyce hurried to follow, "How can you think so? Rachel is missing. If you don't find her, I'll do it myself!"

After her words, she went down by Gabrielle's side.

Gabrielle had to put her doubts aside and followed.

If Rachel, a child, had entered the dark basement by accident, how frightened she should be!

She really liked Rachel and hoped to protect her from any harm.

Gabrielle followed Joyce into the basement.

Rachel's frightened cries sounded in the quiet place.

"Mommy, where are you? Rachel is scared..."

"Rachel..." Gabrielle was so anxious that she ran past Joyce in the direction of the sound.

She did not notice that Joyce suddenly slowed her pace and smiled in contempt.
