Chapter 17 Dear, I Miss You So Much
The first thing that came into Ben's view was a blinding beam of light.
Ben turned his head, finding that it was the light from a cell phone.
He looked down, finding that he was lying on his side on the ground, with his head resting on Gabrielle's legs and his arms tightly wrapped around her waist.
Ben did not expect to wake up in the arms of this woman.
Gabrielle was leaning against the wall, with one hand on his back and the other holding the phone. The phone was about to drop but was still aimed at his face.
Ben immediately understood that it was because of the light shining in his eyes that he could be relieved of anxiety and fear.
She was quite clever.
He sized her up and down, who seemed to be in an uneasy sleep with a frown.
Did she have a bad dream?
Ben was thinking about it when he was stunned.
A familiar fragrance, which was very similar to his wife's smell, lingered between his nose. Due to the fragrance, he thought his wife came back and subconsciously clung to her when he was inundated by fear.
But to his surprise, when he was awake, it was not Gabrielle who was accompanying him. No, her name was also Gabrielle, but not his Gabrielle.
The strange thing was, why was her smell so similar to Gabrielle?
Ben sat up and looked at the sleeping woman, his brow furrowed slightly.
"Who on earth are you? What is the purpose of your approaching me?" Ben stared at her quietly for a while before taking the phone, getting up, and turning on the backup light.
The wine cellar was suddenly bright.
Ben's body stiffened slightly, and he subconsciously touched his chest.
In such dark surroundings, he woke up without feeling the slightest panic, shortness of breath, and uncontrollable shaking of hands and feet. Was it because he felt at ease while lying in the arms of this woman?
As Ben slowly turned around and looked at the woman leaning against the wall, his eyes flashed with a trace of suspicion.
"Gabrielle... Gabrielle..."
He muttered.
Was there actually such a coincidence that he met a woman who had the same name as his wife's?
He would not have felt strange if she just had the same name. Why was she so similar to his wife in both body shape and body scent, except for her face and voice?
Ben shifted his eyes to the woman's neck.
Could she really be his wife?
He remembered clearly that there was a nail-sized birthmark on his wife's chest. If this woman also had a mark in the same place, could it be certain that she was his Gabrielle?
Ben thought so when he involuntarily walked up to her.
Slowly squatting down, he reached out his hand with a quiver of anticipation.
He was a little nervous as he was about to confirm whether she was his wife or not.
But the sleeping woman suddenly let out a scream.
"No!"
Ben was startled. His hand was frozen, and his face showed a look of embarrassment like a child caught doing something wrong.
After quickly retracting his hand and raising his eyes, he was about to find an excuse when he found that she did not wake up, but...
"No, don't kill me! Cold... I'm so cold..." The desolate and painful voice intermittently came from her, who seemed to be stuck in a terrible nightmare.
Ben's eyebrows were knitted.
What terrible experiences still haunted her in her dream?
"Cold, I'm so cold..." With a painful expression on her face, the woman tightly wrapped her arms around herself as if she felt indeed frozen.
The temperature in the cellar dropped after the power outage, but it was not that cold.
Ben wrinkled his brow and covered her body with his jacket after seconds of hesitation.
"You should feel honored." Ben snorted lightly and was about to get up when the woman's sobbing voice attracted him.
"Dear... My dear, I miss you so much."
