Chapter 5, Boss!

Prince felt good the remaining part of the day. He was going to ask Katie to dinner immediately she accepted his proposal, but Katie was quick to leave the office. He let her go, knowing that she must be shy; he decided to give her some space. He left the office to his house. He lived among the most influential people in New York. His house covered four hectares of land space. He had a little wildlife excluded from the domestic space. Upon a steep hill sat his edifice, beautifully designed by the finest and most qualified architect.

He got home and changed into his tennis clothes. It was 5:33 PM. He was to meet up with 'the boys' in less than thirty minutes. He had told them about Katie, and he couldn't wait to give them her response. He sped out when he was all dressed up.

'Hey, Prince, what's up buddy?' James greeted on sighting his best friend. James was grinning from ear to ear. 'How did it go bud?' James asked Prince, giving him a knowing look. From the big smile Prince had on his face, James instinctively knew that his friend had succeeded in winning Katie over. 'She said yes!' Prince said, smashing a tennis ball against the wall in excitement. 'Go boy!' James cheered his friend giving him a high five. They were celebrating when their other friends Henry and Edward jogged in from the car park. 'What's the celebration about?' Edward shouted from afar. He jogged even faster to catch up with his friends. 'Fill me in' he said. James was the first to break the news to the two of them that Prince had secured himself a broad. 'Of course, he's one of the richest lads in New York, any broad out there should consider herself lucky to sit on his...' Henry was saying when Prince cut him short; 'Yea we all know i'm rich Henry, there's no need to be an asshole about it'. Prince was irritated at Henry's constant superior attitude over everybody. Henry was only average among the four friends, yet he was the cockiest. Henry rolled his eyes, 'well i'm just stating the obvious' he said. 'When do we meet her?'

Prince said Henry would have to promise to compose himself and not go off being cocky on his girlfriend when they eventually met her. Henry promised; 'cross my heart' he said laughing. 'Alright, lets play boy's, talk about Katie later', James cut them short. 'I'm pairing with lover boy' Edward quickly said as they arranged for their game of tennis doubles. They made fun of Prince through out the game.

Katie and Betty had gushed over their day. Betty had already kicked it with the lad from the party; his name was Stanley. He was also very handsome with dark hair, although not nearly as rich as Prince. They were in Betty's house when Katie came over from work. It was her first time meeting Stanley, and she was impressed to see this very tall and handsome lad whom her friend had to herself. Betty, in Katie's opinion had a knack for falling for guys who were 'not so inviting facially'; this one caught her eye. 'Hi, you must be Katie', Stanley said when he opened the door. There was something about his voice, husky and so sexy. Katie nodded. 'And you must be Stanley', Katie blurted, obviously stunned at his features. 'Yes, I am' Stanley said smiling behind noticeably white teeth. 'Hey girl' Betty chirped from inside, 'i'm sure we both had awesome days'; they burst out laughing. 'What do I offer you ma'am' Stanley asked Katie; 'Oh, you are pretty tucked in here already' Katie told him. 'Well fix me some wine, Red please' Katie commanded. 'At your service mami', Stanley bellowed and left to the mini bar. Katie and Betty where chatting and giggling the whole time when Prince called.

'Hey, how are you?' he asked Katie. She said she was fine, and she was away at Betty's house. 'Want me to come pick you up?' he asked Katie. She declined, telling him that it was getting late and she had to turn in early for work tomorrow. 'I am your employer' Prince argued 'You can turn in at work anytime you like, as long as I know the reason; talk less of when i'm the reason. She said she was not going to give the rest of her colleagues a bad first impression about her. Her excuse made sense to Prince, although he wished she would agree to hang out with him. No one ever turned him down, this was new. He said okay, and that he looked forward to seeing her the next day. Then he hung up.

It was almost 10 PM when Katie got home. Her jaws ached from laughing too hard at Betty's house. Prince texted her. 'Home yet?' She frowned at the text. Was he possessive? Was he controlling? Is this a red flag? She deliberately lied that she was still at Betty's, just to see what his response will be. He didn't respond. Katie had a quick shower and tucked herself in bed, she slept off immediately; she was tired; it had been a long day.

Katie showed up at work ten minutes early. Prince was not there yet. It wasn't long before the elevator opened and Prince stepped out. His perfume filling the entire floor. He went to Katie's office immediately, both of them had butterflies in their tummy. 'Good morning, boss' Katie said. Prince smiled. 'Are you going to be calling me boss? or should i sack you so that you can call me some nice name' Prince said to Katie, both of them laughing. 'Good morning Prince' Katie said. He stared at her, smiling gently. 'Morning Katie'. 'So, are you going to be with me today at the close of work?' he asked her. She said she was not going to, that he should save a date for her over the weekend. He didn't say anything to her. He went to his office and sat down, he couldn't concentrate on anything; her presence in the room next to him provoked so many thoughts in him. He picked up the intercom and instructed her to come to his office. Katie opened the door of Prince's office; 'Yes, boss'!
