Chapter 2 Dedication
Ada's gaze fell upon Paul's long and slender legs, and she was a little unable to shift it away.
She had to admit that Paul was truly a prominent person.
He had everything in the world that all men wanted, including appearance, figure, health, wealth, status and rights.
But no matter how good this man was, it had nothing to do with her.
Although she regretted her reckless actions, she did not shrink back and looked directly at Paul, saying, "I'll write you an IOU right now. I'll pay you back."
Paul suddenly approached and slowly pressed down on her.
Shocked by his movement, Ada fell onto the sofa. She could not do anything as Paul headed towards her to bully her, and she didn't dare to push him away.
She knew that if she stretched out her hand, she would touch his chest.
She could only desperately retreat backwards.
Ada was already half—lying on the sofa, and she really had no way to get out.
Fortunately, Paul stopped pressing her down and maintained the distance of a fist with her, looking down at her.
Due to the rain, the clothes tightly stuck to her body, revealing an exquisite curve.
Paul's gaze swept over her body a few times, and finally fixed onto her collarbone.
Paul suppressed his desire to touch the birthmark. He slightly squinted, and a hint of emotion that no one could understand was concealed.
The light cast a shadow on Paul's face, but it also caused his narrow and long phoenix eyes to become even more amorous.
The curves of his eyelashes and his lips were strangely harmonious.
Paul looked at Ada with a strange smile, "Really?"
Ada covered her chest with her hands. She didn’t know whether she should push or not, but because of the nervousness, her whole body stiffened up as though she had turned into a sculpture.
Ada turned her head with all her might and closed her eyes, refusing to look at Paul.
It was as if she could pretend there was nothing happened as long as she did not look at him.
Paul chuckled as he looked at Ada. He slowly straightened his body, turned around, and sat on a single sofa at the side.
Several servants immediately came over. Someone used a towel to dry Paul's hair. Someone knelt down to help him clean his nails.
Ada waited for a long time and slowly opened her eyes after realizing there was nothing terrifying happened.
Ada wanted to sit up, but she discovered that her legs had actually become numb from being too nervous.
When Ada felt better, Paul suddenly asked, "Why are you crying so bitterly?"
Ada's body instantly stiffened, and the alertness she had raised was instantly replaced by grief.
She lightly shook her head, not wanting to explain anything, she only slowly stood up and bowed towards Paul, "Thank you, I will definitely pay you back."
She wanted to find someone to talk to, but it definitely couldn't be this dangerous man in front of her.
She must have been dizzied just now, crying so bitterly at him.
Ada thanked him in a simple manner and left. Looking at her back, there was something flashed in Paul's eyes, but he didn’t say a word. He got someone to send her back home.
The rain outside was too heavy.
Ada returned home, and several gazes landed on her when she entered.
Ada said indifferently, "I want to have a rest."
"Stop!" An imposing voice sounded behind her, and she had to stop.
Ada slowly turned around and looked at the middle—aged man who was still looking young.
York Shen's face became dark, "You actually consider me as your father? It’s so late! Where did you go? Look at yourself!"
Ada's mouth twitched, but she did not say anything.
With York's power, how could he not know about the news of Samuel? What was the point of asking her while he knew what happened?
The young maiden sitting beside York also scolded Ada, "Ada, why are you always making your father angry? Hurry up and apologize to your father!"
Ada did not utter a word, she wanted to call her mother but she failed.
York pointed at Ada, as his entire body was trembling in anger, saying to the woman, "Look at your daughter!"
Mrs. Shen quickly quelled York's anger, turned and said to Ada, "Ada, sit down first, we have something to tell you."
Ada thought for a while, then without changing clothes, she sat in front of them with her entire body drenched.
Whatever she did, it was wrong in their minds. Why didn't she just sit down and listen to what they were going to say?
Mrs. Shen exchanged glances with York, then she said, "Ada, do you still remember how the Shens developed?"
Without waiting for Ada to reply, she continued, "It was the Hos invested us, helping we to bring the dead back to life. They thought highly of us, and gave us a chance. As long as we can give birth to a child for them, we will not have to pay back the money."
Ada knew this matter and replied as she frowned, "Didn't we already choose Patti Shen to marry?"
Mrs. Shen immediately smiled, "That's right, although it has been decided, Ada, something happened to her. So, she cannot marry anymore."
Ada did not utter a word.
"Patti…Her body doesn't allow she..." Mrs. Shen's stuttering expression made a bad premonition rise from the bottom of Ada's heart.
"What do you want to say?" Ada immediately interrupted Mrs. Shen. "If there's something you want to say, just say it."
York Shen, who was sitting beside her, did not want to cover his intention and straightforwardly said, "You'll marry!"
Ada's expression suddenly changed and she instantly tensed up, "Father, what do you mean?"
York's face darkened, "Ada, we have raised you for 18 years. Even if we raised a pet, it's time to repay the master!"
Seeing that York was angry, Mrs. Shen immediately turned and begged Ada, "Ada, if no one marries into the Hos, they will take back the money that they lent us before, and we will bankrupt. When the time comes, we will lose everything! If the Shens bankrupted, who would pay for your old brother's treatment?"
Ada felt as if she was struck by lightning.
Yes, if the Shens bankrupted, what would happen to brother?
If she must choose a person among her family, it wouldn't be her mother, but her brother, Hanson Shen.
But how could she marry someone else?
She was going to be with Samuel for her entire life!
Ada left the living room absentmindedly. Once Ada left, a young girl, who was dressed beautifully, slowly walked down the stairs and hugged onto Mrs. Shen's neck, "Mom, I don't want to marry that person. He's just an adopted son. Now, he doesn't even have the right to inherit. He's just a cripple!"
