Chapter 18 Boss Was Making A Scene
Before Mary could refuse, Barry rejected straightforward, and his cold eyes were filled with displeasure.
The man sounded cold as if he was a piece of ice that never melted.
Although it was within her expectations, Mary felt pain in her heart. He indeed disliked her.
The Crown Prince refused so decisively that many people enjoyed the fun, but Mary smiled nonchalantly, "Thank you, Grandpa John, I'm sorry that I have to fail you this time."
"Kid, what do you mean?"
Senior Master Lambert expected his grandson's attitude but not Mary's rejection.
Mary raised her head and looked at Grandpa John seriously without blinking her bright eyes, "Grandpa John, I'm an orphan now and not worthy of the Crown Prince of Sunderland.
"Besides, affection should be mutual. I used to like Junior Master Lambert, but he didn't like me. Now I no longer like him, he still doesn't like me."
"Forced relationship won't bring happiness. If Grandpa John likes me, I promise I will still visit you often."
There was an uproar!
Gosh, Mary unexpectedly rejected Senior Master Lambert's goodwill.
Didn't she like the Crown Prince the most? Somehow, she gave up?
Was she still the same little princess of Yeates Family who followed the Crown Prince regardless of dignity?
Even Mandy and Flora couldn't help exchanging glances. They had no idea what Mary was up to.
They didn't believe Mary would give up the great patron so easily.
As a matter of fact, Mary's rejection surprised Barry the most.
He handed his wine to Tony and then spoke to his parents, "I'll go and change my clothes."
Barry went upstairs, and the tall figure gradually disappeared before people's eyes.
People raised their eyes and looked over. His side face looked handsome and indifferent as ever.
It was his personality. No matter what happened, he would maintain a cold look.
Because of that, no one could see through his thoughts.
"Senior Master Lambert, we are honored to have you here."
Soon, the host of the charity banquet broke the silence.
People continued to dance or drink as if nothing happened.
Mary heaved a sigh of relief, turned around, and found herself a corner to sit down.
Quentin went to mingle.
Given his status, he could hardly have leisure time under such a circumstance.
Mary sat on a couch, took a sip of the orange juice, and inadvertently ran her eyes over the crowd.
Before long, a frivolous yet handsome man pushed his way over. With a grin, he toasted to Mary, "Beauty, care for a drink?"
The corners of Mary's lips curved up, "Sure."
The handsome man brazenly sat down and drew close to Mary, "Oh my, boss, you rejected Barry, that's awesome!"
"He rejected me."
Mary suddenly changed wine and took a sip. A hint of annoyance crossed her delicate face.
"Yale, what makes you think I have the right to reject?"
"He didn't care about my feelings in the past, not to mention now I own nothing."
Her pretty eyes flickered as her emotions changed.
Yale Locke frowned, "Sorry, boss, I couldn't provide much help."
Mary came to her senses and chuckled, "You are still willing to take me as your boss. I'm flattered, Junior Master Locke."
Yale was lost for words.
"By the way, boss, I just heard gossip that your sister would be engaged to Barry tonight!"
"What?"
Mary looked back and frowned slightly.
There was a rumor between Flora and Barry. Certainly, Talbot was behind that. The reason why she came here was to wreck their plan. But how would that Mandy force Barry to get engaged to her?
"Keep an eye on them, the truth will soon come to the surface. That Mandy must have been well prepared. I'm afraid she would create a scandal and hold Barry accountable."
Mary's eyes slightly went dim.
Yale didn't notice it and continued, "But boss, you asked me to investigate Barry's whereabouts and now give up on him. What are you planning? So..."
Before Yale could finish, Mary suddenly got up and walked away with a cup of wine.
She was heading for Mandy.
Yale's heart convulsed. Boss was making a scene!
