The dreamy haze
Sometimes there is a blur between what's real and what's not. You feel totally intoxicated even though you haven't drunk a single drop. Your senses seem to falter. Skip a beat somehow. Everything around you goes off beat. You struggle just to make out if you are awake or still dreaming.
The sun was a different colour. Not the crimson yellow that it used to be, more of a crimson pink. Was it rising or setting? Was it dawn or or dusk? Her head was in a puddle. She tried rubbing her eyes to get a clear view but it was still all blurry. Not only her vision but she herself was literally feeling dizzy. Her legs won't budge. Her hands, gosh, she couldn't even support her own weight on it. What was wrong? Where was she? What time, day or month was it. Wait a second, leave everything aside, she had forgotten who was she!
The lights were again a different colour in the sky. Purple? violet? lavender? She couldn't properly tell. Wait! Why was she upside down? "Waiiiittt" She started screaming and hitting at the hands that were holding her steadfast at the waist.
"Stop hitting. Will ya".
" STOP HITTING????? CAN YOU INSTEAD STOP trying kidnapping me? PUT ME DOWN ON MY FEET! "she retorted.
" K-id-n-ap! What's that? Besides you should be thankful. I'm just doing you a favor and saving your life. "called back a cherry lad.
" WHAT DO you Mean? "
"I saw you were sleeping in that First Colony passage. I saw the two surveillance pods coming your way. I know your a girl and all this can be tiring and everything. But, WHAT KINDA SNATCHER FALLS ASLEEP ON A JOB?? " he made a face that was supposed to be disrespectfully mean but it was funny.
"A THIEF??? I AM NO THIEF. And what colony? What pods? Wait can you please let me down so that I can start making sense out of this entire joke'".
" J-ok-e! What is THAT now??? Why do you keep talking weird? Did you hit your head or something? Whatever! Now just hold on while I steer to the By-lanes. Then we can get you treated as well. Hold on. I'm going full blast".
"Hold on? Your the ,o--oo--n--ne, doing the ,OH MY GAUD, holding..... WHAT THE..... " now she noticed it wasn't just her that was hanging, so was the one carrying her. They were almost at the height of twenty storeys and moving at the speed of an aircraft. But, then they started what seemed to her like, zooming and zapping at the speed of light. Everything started to blur once again.
In her sleep she was running in a beach. Her mother, late father, baby sister. What a happy time it was. She could remember the boys playing soccer a little far away, the beautiful lady she often saw but did not know the name. The dream then shifted to her classroom where somebody was banging her head repeatedly against the wall. She tried hard to hold back those burning tears but they were boiling to burst out. All of a sudden a rage erupted from her and the scene shifted and she found herself alone is a cold dry cave. A light glimmered from afar as if calling her. Timidly she followed without hesitation. A gush of fresh air blew against her face and she fell asleep in her dream once more. A heart lightening peaceful sleep.
She could hear whispers as she slept. A women's voice. The most soothing voice she ever could have heard. She could remember hearing it before but where. She couldn't remember where she had heard it but it was very very familiar. It rang like the rhythm of her blood flowing through her veins yet she could not remember where she had heard it. She was desperately trying to find the source. She understood she was sleeping. Her body could not move, she eyes wouldn't open but she felt that urgent need to find the source of the voice. Her desperation grew. She was fighting against her own senses and then with a sudden jolt she opened her eyes. But the dream faded instantly from her mind and memory, and so did the voice.
