Back to roots
The chest took them right back to Leas hometown. They found themselves in a cave that Lea had often dreamt of but never visited.
"Where are we? " asked a baffled Caspian.
"I have seen this place in my dreams. Didn't know it actually existed" Caspian gazed at both new Lea and cave with astonishment, while she answered. Lea was looking for something. Unsure of what, Caspian joined in anyway. After a few seconds Lea found an entrance. It needed to be accessed with a biometric passcode. Lea touched it with her pulse at the wrist and it flung open. Inside was a pathway, lit up, like that of Caspians pod back at Sierra. They both stepped on it and were taken inside a transportation pod, with a screen but devoid of any control panel. The screen immediately started playing.
The story of a beautiful world. The world of Sierra before the appocalypse. Lush with varied coloured vegetation. It fast forwarded into a very industrialised society, sky scrappers, space stations, shifting geographics. Next they zoomed into a landscape that resembled a vast enclosure. As they were taken further inside they saw hundreds working tense. Their hurried actions revolved around a huge huge furnace. No not a furnace it looked like the sun.
To meet the ever growing human demand, people had mimicked the sun on earth. However it was only the beginning of the end. The experiments went out of proportion plunging the human race en route towards an apocalypse. It mutated plant and animal lives. The water changed properties. It became the new mine for the leftover humankind.
However instead of taking lesson from such a mass destruction from the past, trying to turn a new leaf, they kept repeating the inglorious history of exploitation. This time from several realms at a time. This lead to an irreversible quantum leap, bending time and space. There have developed voids that cab trigger ripple effect across dimensions, threatening the origin of existence.
The screen then went blank. Collection of voice next spoke directly into Leas ears, so loud, she shrieked with pain, shutting both ears with her hands.
"Lea! " Caspian rushed to her side apparently unaware of the voices. He could however see blood trickling down her ears.
"Caspian, we need to get back to the seal stone. It's at the Capitol in Sierra. We only have few hours left before the dimensional bends collapse"
"Lea! I cannot cross realms without my suit and vessel"
"You can with me. You just did. We will strat from the waterfall. Will you be able to take me to this cyan yellow underground passage leading to a vault right below the main Hall? "
"You haven't even been to the Capitol before, how do you even know about this vault Lea? " Caspian was visibly baffled.
"There's a map they engraved in my cerebellum. I can access it now, that... " She paused"now that, my father, has unlocked my neuroplasticity".
It felt strange standing at the waterfall with Caspian, looking down at stones below the crystal clear water.
"On the count of five"
As they jumped Lea, felt that sharp sensation boiling in her pit, the pinch of goodbye. The world she grew up in faded before her eyes. Caspian held her tight, she smiled a little.
"It will be alright" he tried reassuring her. She nodded.
"Caspian do you have a hand cuff? " asked Lea right after landing.
"Huh? "
"Take me in as a prisoner. We do not have the time to face all these guards. Not right now. "
"Ah ok! But what's the plan? "
"You will see. Trust me. "
Caspian took a neon stick out of his pocket and aimed at Leas wrists, as it got tangled with radium bands. He pulled her along gently through the main entrance.
"You need to be a little rough, we are not going for a dance" whispered Lea as they made their way through the thick security, everyone bowing enthusiastically at Caspian. They were able to smoothly make their way to the main halls.
The alarm started going haywire and it took no time before all the elders gathered.
Caspian softly pressed Lea's hands and she responded with a understanding twitch.
