Chapter 7 Do You Like It, Grandma?
Brandi blinked her eyes, "The servants said there is a mountain behind the villa. All the vegetables are green and organic. Mom, let's see if there are any potherbs, shall we?"
Sophia echoed, "Why not?"
She was glad that her daughter would like to eat steamed buns, hoping Brandi would eat more and grow stronger.
Brandi wore a big smile after Sophia agreed.
Her father cared about her in the previous life, coming to see her from time to time.
Whenever he came, he would tell her something about the Hank Family.
That woman had made the same kind of buns for Grandma.
Surprisingly, Grandma favored that a lot.
Therefore, if Brandi wanted her mother to stay here stably, she should help her win Grandma's favor first.
The vegetables were well planted and maintained.
But the two of them went to the undeveloped barren mountain area instead of the vegetable garden.
"Mom, see the shepherd's purse here? We can make dumplings with it."
The sun rose, and the air was fresh. The breeze, the sunshine, and the proper temperature were so comfortable.
Brandi liked her life in the mountain. She wouldn't have come back if it weren't for her mother's sake.
"That's great. Let's dig a lot and then make steamed buns and dumplings with it."
Brandi nodded. Soon, they got a basket of shepherd's purses.
"Mom, look at the beautiful wildflowers! What do you say if we pick some and plant them in our yard?"
The yard they lived in right now was too deserted and dull, which didn't attract Brandi at all.
"Sounds good!"
Sophia would like to do anything to make her little girl happy.
Flowers were Brandi's thing. They surrounded their house in the countryside before.
After they picked a lot, a man ran toward them, panting.
"Madame Hank wants to see you. Hurry!"
Brandi smiled.
"Mom, let's go see Grandma!"
...
Madame Hank, also named Freda, had just returned from the company.
Since Senior Hank was out to look for Christopher, she had to deal with the company issues because the rest of her sons were incapable of running the business.
Brandi and Sophia followed the steward to Freda's yard.
She frowned upon seeing the mud stains on their clothes.
Shelia was happy to see so, thinking to herself that the two of them would seek their way to the dead-end and saved her some strength.
Realizing that Freda was displeased, Brandi held the flowers and ran before her.
"Grandma, how do they look?"
Freda seemed solemn and strict.
After her favorite son went missing, she couldn't even put on a smile.
And that scared her grandchildren away from her.
Whenever she became angry, nobody dared to approach her.
Therefore, she was surprised to see Brandi coming near.
"Yeah, they look beautiful." Freda realized that she liked this girl.
Brandi smiled with her eyes narrowed.
"Grandma, you like flowers, too?"
That was out of Freda's expectation. For the very first time, she couldn't help looking at the girl carefully.
Her chubby face, big eyes, dimples, and buckteeth were adorable.
Freda's heart softened, "Yeah."
It was big progress already.
Her four sons had all married and started their families.
Therefore, Freda wouldn't be passionate about any of her grandchildren because there were too many."
"Then I'll give half of my flowers to you. Grandma, they are survivors."
Brandi said smilingly.
"Half of them?"
Brandi nodded.
"I'll take the rest back. My father's yard is empty."
As she explained, she gave most of her flowers to Freda.
But Shelia got up immediately and shouted in a rage,
"Bran, you shouldn't have done that! Your Grandma always keeps it neat and clean. Your flowers are too dirty! Look at the mud!"
The steward's face turned cold as well. But he didn't sound since Brandi was the lady of the family after all.
"Madame Hank, I'll get the water ready."
Brandi seemed to be frightened by their reactions, taking a step back.
She was panicked, stopped smiling, lowered her head but took a look at Freda from time to time.
She said cautiously, "Did it stain your clothes? Grandma, I'll wash them for you."
Freda wore a suit today. It was well-tailored and magnified her shape and aura perfectly.
"That's okay," Freda said.
Her grandchildren had always feared her. But this one was different. She did something the rest had never done, asking if she liked it.
