Chapter 3 We Tried Our Best

"Sorry, we tried our best." Outside the emergency room of the hospital, the doctor said apologetically.

Jessica passed out, and her body collapsed softly.

"Miss! Are you okay?!"

"You are lying to me! You must be lying to me, right?"

Jessica grabbed the doctor's clothes hard and questioned him loudly, crying in sorrow, "Nothing is going to happen to Mom. Say something! My mother is all right, right!?"

"Miss, the patient already has serious heart disease, with the intense stimulation that caused sudden cardiac arrest and death. We have really tried our best."

The doctor who she caught said calmly. He felt sorry for the poor girl, but there was nothing he could do.

He could feel the grief of losing a loved one, but there was really nothing he could do.

Getting the affirmative answer from the doctor, Jessica couldn't help crying bitterly.

In just one day, she had fallen from heaven to hell, and all her happiness vanished.

Not long after, Mrs. Blake's body was pushed out of the emergency room.

"Mom!" Jessica got up from the ground, crying, and threw herself on Mrs. Blake, "What I'm going to do if you are gone? What I'm going to do?"

The doctors and nurses in the back shook their heads blankly. They had seen this situation a lot in the hospital.

Huge grief couldn't save her mother's life. Jessica could only watch her mother being pushed into the morgue in the end.

Watching the ruthless door close in front of her, Jessica fell to her knees.

In just half a day, she was hit by a series of hardships, her fiancé cheated on her with another woman, her mother died, and her father went to jail. These were hard for Jessica to accept.

She didn't believe that her father would commit corruption. Besides, the company was founded by her father. How could he do anything detrimental to the company?

Someone must have framed him!

The flash of thought in her mind made Jessica back to sense.

Thumping her legs that had been numb from kneeling for too long, Jessica stood up, took a deep look at the morgue, and dragged her stiff body out of the hospital.

After leaving the hospital, Jessica looked at the brightening sky outside and found that she had been kneeling in the morgue all night.

She hadn't eaten or drank anything all day and night, and she had been kneeling all night. Now her stomach screamed. Jessica went to a convenience store and bought a steamed bun and a cup of soybean milk.

But after drinking the soybean milk, she couldn't eat it anymore. The scenes of yesterday seemed like a dream, and Jessica wished that all of these were a dream!

However, the heart-wrenching pain could not be ignored.

Tears fell again. After wiping away the tears with her hand, Jessica gritted her teeth, directly stopped the taxi, and ran to the police station.

She wanted to ask her father herself if he had ever done such a thing!

But the reality once again made Jessica feel cruel.

"Sorry, Miss Blake, Mr. Joseph Blake has temporarily been denied any visits and cannot be released on bail. Please go back!"

The cold words of the police broke Jessica's belief again.

"Why? My father didn't commit a serious crime! Even if he can't be released on bail, he should be allowed to see his family, right?" Jessica asked sharply.

She just wanted to see her father. Why was it so difficult?
