Chapter 2 Offending Mr. Hahn
With a nonchalant face, Janice entered the classroom with a book under her arm.
She sat down at her single desk when the English class was on.
Janice was often late for school, and Miss Kinney had been used to it. Therefore, the class was not stopped.
Some students were distracted by the girl in a plain, aqua-blue, beveled school uniform. As usual, she found a comfortable posture and slept on the desk.
A military base in Carmel City.
In a large conference room, a bunch of senior generals sat around the table, discussing military secrets.
In a leather swivel chair, Kameron Hahn tapped the table with a pen.
The tension grew with his tapping.
"You mean the Nine Continents Chamber of Commerce helped us?"
He finally broke the silence. His narrowed eyes were awe-inspiring and penetrating.
A general in rags, who just escaped from the enemy zone, stood up and nodded seriously, "I worked undercover in enemy territory for two years and got exposed to obtaining that thing.
The situation was critical, and then a pigeon came out of nowhere. I received a slip and got out of the red."
"Where's the slip?" Kameron asked majestically.
The general handed it in.
There was a typewritten paragraph on the slip mentioning a shelter for the spies and a warehouse for goods storage.
The warehouse was owned by the Nine Continents Chamber of Commerce. Obviously, the organization provided help.
And it was a big favor.
Their spies plotted for three years, infiltrated the enemy, and worked undercover for two years.
It took them a full five years to get what they wanted.
If they didn't have a warehouse for temporary storage, their five years of effort might be for nothing.
"This batch of goods is very important to us. No information should be leaked." Kameron ran his eyes over everyone, "You didn't know whose pigeon it was and chose to believe it. It's okay, but you still haven't figured out the source or known whether they are friends or foes!"
A cold glint flashed across Kameron's half-narrowed eyes.
People hung their heads.
If they couldn't figure out the identity of the helper, they would be in trouble.
"I'm sorry, sir. I will find it out." The spy promised.
"You have half a day for the job, or the entire intelligence squad will be punished." Kameron gave an ultimatum.
At school, Janice was sleeping soundly.
She knew nothing about this.
In her sleep, she scratched her delicate ear. Without warning, her curly long hair, as dark as the fucus, slid down.
It drooped down the fine contour of her side face. She looked like Sleeping Beauty in fairy tales.
Those boys and girls were easily attracted by her sleeping posture.
All of a sudden…
Her biological clock worked. She woke up from her sleep and checked the watch. Was class over? Finally! She wondered what food the cafeteria was providing for lunch?
She raised her eyes.
Then she met the gaze of her classmates nearby.
"Why are you all looking at me? Anything wrong?" Janice asked drowsily.
They still hadn't gotten used to her sleeping in class?
She was the poorest student in this class. What else could she do?
Then she was taken aback when she saw Kameron's adjutant, Cruz Burks, standing by her side.
Janice was afraid of Kameron and people around him, "Well… Cruz, what brought you here?"
"Miss Dillard, our marshal wants to ask you about something, please come with me." Cruz said solemnly.
Janice cringed, and her classmates darted pitiful looks at her.
They muttered under their breath, "Ah, she has offended Mr. Hahn. Even his trusted subordinate is sent here."
"This loser sucks in academic performance. How did she manage to offend the marshal?"
"Looks like Janice's seat will be empty from today on. Most likely, she will not come back."
"As her classmates for a year, we should pray for her."
