Chapter 8 Ironic to the Extreme
Those people were aggressive, and Chelsea was afraid that they might hurt her daughter. Without a choice, she swallowed her pride and left the hospital with Yuki.
She checked into the nearest hotel, coaxed the frightened girl to sleep, asked the hotel staff to take care of her, and went to Jenkins Group in a huff.
Before leaving the hotel, she looked at the sleeping girl and felt powerless.
It had been five years since she married Morrel. She quit her job, gave up socialization, took care of the child, and assisted him in his work. Now they turned hostile, and he obstructed their daughter's treatment!
As the young lady of the Jenkins family, Yuki was supposed to be spoiled by everyone but actually suffered for so many years.
Elise and her illegitimate son took her place. What was more ironic was that Morrel and his mother both knew it!
Their family was dirty and disgusting. She would not let Yuki grow up in such a place.
She had filed for a divorce with Morrel. After that, she would build a new home for Yuki and herself.
A home of their own.
...
At the sight of Chelsea, the secretary intercepted, "Ma'am, Mr. Jenkins is busy. You can't get in."
"Out of the way!"
Chelsea pushed the secretary away and barged into the office.
At that moment, Elise was sitting on Morrel's lap and flirting with him. She was startled by the intruder at first. When she saw it was Chelsea, she snuggled into Morrel's arms and looked at Chelsea provocatively.
Without even a glance at the woman, Chelsea questioned the man angrily, "Morrel, what the hell do you want? Kris is your son. Is Yuki not your daughter?"
A flicker of guilt flashed across his eyes, but he sulked, "Isn't this your fault? Kris called you Mother for four years, and you almost strangled him!"
Chelsea gritted her teeth, "We'll get divorced. I won't disturb your life with Elise and her son. Likewise, I hope you'll leave Yuki and me alone! You don't want her, but I do! You refuse to raise her, but I will!"
Morrel was amused by her speech, "You? Heh heh, how?"
He sized her up, "Head to toe, everything you wear and use is bought with Jenkins's money."
Chelsea lost her tongue.
Satisfied with her reaction, Morrel continued slowly, "By the way, I forgot that you were a top student of Haver University and worked in Jenkins Group. It won't be hard for you to find a job. However, who will take care of the girl?"
He rose, came up, and asked sarcastically with a smile, "Your mother? If she learns about the divorce, I'm afraid that she'll ask you to kneel and beg me. Chelsea, aren't you naive?"
Chelsea clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug deep into the flesh of her palms.
"What does it take for you to let Yuki receive her treatment in the hospital?" She raised her crimson eyes and glared at the man coldly.
"Simple. Mr. Laird is very fond of you. As long as you get the contract from Laird Group, Morrel and I will find the best doctor for your daughter."
Elise walked to Morrel, intimately held onto his arm, and threw a file at her.
Chelsea glanced down at it and then slowly looked up at Morrel.
Once again, she was shocked by his shamelessness.
Her daughter's treatment was on one premise. Her husband was asking her to sleep with another man. Was there another thing in this world more ironic than this?
She felt a dull pain in her heart. For a moment, she didn't know whether it was his true color or if the five years of their marriage had changed him thoroughly.
She suddenly forgot what Morrel liked about her and why she agreed to marry him.
