Chapter 7 May You a Happy and Carefree Life

Felix frowned anxiously, "Dr. Kirby, how is William?"

"I've given him a shot of sedatives. He no longer shouted in pain and fell asleep, but his fever won't subside."

Felix knitted his brows, "You still can't figure out the cause?"

Dr. Kirby shook his head guiltily.

The internationally renowned pediatrician had cured countless children but could not figure out the cause of William's disease.

When he was a baby, William would cry for the pain in his body. When he grew older, he stopped crying and clenched his teeth to endure it whenever the disease attacked him.

He was still little, and the pain was so sharp that his teeth would bleed and his consciousness would leave him in the end. Everyone would be distressed to see his suffering.

Felix clenched his fists and suppressed his concern, "Thank you." Then he turned around and instructed Hayes, "See Dr. Kirby off."

Hayes came up and made a gesture of invitation, "Dr. Kirby, this way please."

He walked the guest to the door and prepared to turn back when Keith Sullivan came.

Keith was the chief assistant in Lynch Consortium and the leader of Felix's think tank.

Hayes was in charge of Felix's safety and also his right-hand man.

"What brought you here at such late hours?"

Keith waved a file bag in his hand, "Mr. Lynch asked me to investigate a woman earlier. I've collected the information and brought it here as soon as I can."

"I'm afraid Mr. Lynch is not in a mood for this today." Hayes said solemnly, "William is sick."

Keith's face stiffened, and he stated hurriedly, "I'm going to check on him."

He put the file bag down and hastened up to the second floor.

Keith walked in such a hurry that he didn't notice that the bag fell to the floor. The file fell out, and photos of Chelsea were revealed.

...

Chelsea got out of the car and rushed into the hospital.

The girl was in a terrible condition, and the doctor performed a series of emergency treatments.

Her clothes were unbuttoned before bruises, cuts, and burns were seen on her skinny body.

A muffled whimper came out of Chelsea's throat, and her eyes turned crimson. She couldn't imagine what kind of torture her child had been subjected to in the past four years.

"I won't do it again… ouch… don't hit me…" The unconscious girl suddenly cried out.

Chelsea felt heartbroken and dissolved into tears, "I'm sorry, it was all my fault. I came too late…"

After two hours of emergency treatment, the girl's condition finally stabilized.

Chelsea guarded at the bed, reluctant to leave for a second.

In the middle of the night, the girl came round. When she saw the woman on the bed, her eyes instantly lit up.

"My baby, you're awake. How do you feel?"

The girl shook her head, looked at Chelsea with expectant eyes, and asked timidly, "Are you really my mother?"

"Yes."

"Is this a dream?"

"No." Chelsea folded her daughter in her arms, stroked her thin back, and continued in a soft voice, "You are my daughter. From now on, I'll call you Yuki. May you live a happy and carefree life!"

Yuki nodded heavily and called her 'Mommy' repeatedly as if she were the happiest person in this world.

In a while, she fell asleep again.

This time, she was in Chelsea's arms, a gratified smile on her meager face.

Chelsea felt more distressed. Her poor child…

...

The following day.

When she came back from buying breakfast, a crowd was seen outside the ward. The noises made by them were disturbing.

Chelsea rushed over. What angered her, even more, was that those people were teasing Yuki.

Without hesitation, she pushed them away, hugged the shuddering girl, and glared at them, "What the hell are you doing!"

"According to Mr. Jenkins, you hurt his son. As punishment, your daughter is forbidden to see a doctor. You'd better leave on your own or face the consequences!"
