They all rushed to the kitchen and found the male chef bleeding. He had a deep cut on his finger and he was wriggling in pain.

"Hey, what happened here?" Jason asked, rushing towards him

"Sir, I was just chopping an onion,'' he replied in pain.

"Hey Susan, go get the first aid box,'' Mrs Johnson said to Susan, the maid who was standing close to her.

"Be fast, " Mr Johnson added.

"It's not so deep, you'll be fine," Mrs Johnson said, holding the chef's hand as blood flowed from the finger which was cut.

"Yes ma'am," he said, painfully.

"Come on, let's wait for Susan to bring the first-aid box at the passage, so the whole kitchen doesn't get messed up with blood" Jason added and they all walked out of the kitchen.

"We've got a nurse here so it's gonna be alright," Mrs Johnson said as she looked at Emilia.

Emilia flinched and her heartbeat increased at Mrs Johnson's words.

"What nurse?" She muttered to herself as she looked at Jason but his face was void of expression.

"Are you ok?" Mr Johnson asked, looking at her

"Ye...ah dad I'm fine" She answered quickly.

She began sweating profusely as she saw the maid come in with a first aid box. Where is she going to start from?" She asked herself with her heart pounding so hard that she almost developed a heart attack.

"Hey dear, the box is here. Please help treat his wound ok?" Mrs Johnson said, turning to look at her

"Um mum, Emilia is... um Emilia are you sure you're ready for this?" Jason asked anxiously

"Why not, she's a nurse," Mr Johnson said, looking at him surprised.

"Emilia?" Mrs Johnson called looking at the already sweating lady in front of her.

"Yes mother," she replied

"Take the box and do your job" Mrs Johnson ordered

"Yes ma....." Emilia acquiesced as she walked forward.

"Are you ok?" Mr Johnson asked again

"Ye....ah" she stammered as she knelt on the floor.

She opened the box and her heartbeat increased. She can't handle a single thing here, she thought as she began to search for God knows what inside the box.

"Um what are you looking for ma'am?" Susan asked

"Nothing," she replied at once. Jason was already pacing the whole place while everyone else was watching Emilia.

"Should I come forward madam?" The chef asked

"No..... yeah!" Emilia replied at once as she picked a syringe from the box and dropped it again.

"Are you ok?" Mrs Johnson asked, noticing her uneasiness.

"Yeah" she said, using her palm to fan herself.

"Seems the whole place is hot" Jason said

"Yeah so hot, I'm not comfortable working in hot places" She lied

"How does the place being hot affect what you're going to do now?" Mrs Johnson asked with surprise

"No ma'am I .... " She stammered

"Come on, someone is wounded here, do your thing, You should take a look at the wound first cause you don't even know if it requires a stitch!" Mr Johnson said angrily.

"Ye...ss" Emilia said nervously as she stood up again and walked to meet the chef. She looked at the wound. She doesn't even know how deep it is. She walked back to the first aid box again looking at the items in it as everyone became tired of watching her.

"Don't worry I'll handle it," Mr Johnson said and she felt embarrassed at once.

"Sir," she tried to speak

"No it's fine, my husband was once a nurse, he'll handle it" Mrs Johnson said with a wry smile on her lips.

"And I guess, those artificial nails won't let you do your work properly, and also those artificial eyelashes,.. " She added with sarcasm.

Emilia frowned and she gave Jason an angry look.

He walked towards her and held her hands as they both walked out to the sitting room downstairs. After a minute of silence, she said

"You never told me your dad was a nurse"

"I'm sorry, he never told me. I don't even know" Jason said, looking embarrassed

"We shouldn't have lied, i'm so ashamed now. I want to go home" she said angrily

"Baby you can't, let's just wait for them to come,'' He said, placing his arm around her shoulders.

Just then Mrs Johnson walked in with her husband. They both smiled as Jason stood up

"Dad, I never knew you were a nurse" he said

"Oh yeah, back then. Well, I was so young then probably 18 but I never liked the job. The chef's wound is not so deep though, just a little cut. I just applied some methylated spirit and hydrogen, " he said, smiling.

Jason kept mute and sat down.

"So where were we?" Mrs Johnson asked, with a smirk on her face as she stared at Emilia who looked away immediately.

"Are you aware that my son is engaged?" She asked.

Emilia raised her head and looked at Jason. She shook her head slowly

"Well now you know. He's engaged to someone else and they're getting married soon!" Mrs Johnson thundered

"Mom!" Jason yelled

"It's fine ma" Emilia said as she picked up her bag and got ready to leave. She'd had enough already, she thought as Jason held her back.

"Mom I'm not engaged to anyone I want Emilia and it's final!" He yelled

"Your words can't move a mountain son, so you can just show her the way to the door," Mr Johnson said picking up his magazine

"Well said dad, even if my words can't move a mountain, then my love can!" he said and walked out with Emilia

They journeyed silently to Emilia's place and Jason could see the anger on her face already.

He shouldn't have brought up the lie, he thought. As he parked in front of her house, she came out of the car immediately and walked inside without waiting for him.

He followed suit while calling at her.

"Baby, " he called after her but she didn't respond. She walked into her room and tried to shut the door when he forced his way in. She threw her bag on the floor and also her shoes while Jason stood in front of her watching everything she does. She sat on the bed and heaved a sigh.

"I'm sorry," he said in a mild tone but she didn't respond. He knelt in front of her and placed his palm on hers.

"I'm sorry baby I never meant it this way," He said

"You should have known better instead of making me look like a fool in front of them. I've never been so embarrassed all my life," she said sadly.

"Baby, the blames are on me already and I promise to fix it" he assured

"Fix what Jason? fix the fact that I lied? Or fix the fact that your parents don't like me?" she asked angrily

"Fix the fact that I love you," He said softly and kissed her lips but she didn't respond.

He continued kissing her tenderly till she responded.

"I love you" He whispered slowly to her ears

"I love you too," She said and hugged him tightly.
