Chapter Five

Liam stared at his phone that has been ringing non-stop, he was this close to throwing the phone away but he knew if he did that, his mom would probably die of panicking, or she will be on the next available flight to New York, he didn't want her to do either of those the phone stopped ringing and he wished she wouldn't call again, but she did, his mom never give up, not even when things are not looking her way.

"Mom,"

He said finally taking the call, he couldn't ignore her anymore.

"Liam, son,"

"Mom, I am busy, you shouldn't be calling me during work hours, I have a lot to do here,"

He scolded even though he knew she won't listen, his mom was one of a kind, she used to be his best friend that was until they wanted different things, he knew she had his best interest at heart but still, he would have preferred if she had respected his wish and let him make his own life decisions.

"I am sorry son, I know you are busy but I had to call and check up on you, how are you doing?"

"Mom, I am fine,"

"Are you taking your drugs?"

"Yes, mom,"

He lied, he hasn't taken the drugs in over seven days and he was fine with not taking them, if he were with his mom she would nag him into taking them every day, which is why he moved far away from home, but his parents weren't ready to have that discussion with him, they still want him to continue being under their shield but that wasn't what he wanted, it hasn't been what he wanted since he turned eighteen but it had taken him almost ten years to finally break free from them, and now they want him to return home, he was sure if they knew he lived in a hotel here and work multiple jobs they would cry or go into full panic mode, especially his mom but this is how he wanted to live, experience life like any other human and just be normal.

"I don't even know if I should believe you, son, you barely took your drug when you were home with us not to talk of now that you are on your own, I can't help but be worried about you son,"

"Mom, there is nothing to be worried about, you are talking to me right now, right? And I am speaking well with you, you just need to trust me,"

"I am trying to do just that son, but you don't have a very good record of taking care of your health and it is very disturbing,"

His mom responded, she knew what she was saying was the truth that he was in fact doing exactly what she was so worried about but it was his choice, he was tired of depending on drugs, he just wants to be a normal twenty-six years old young man with his whole life ahead of him, even though it might just be for a short time.

"Mom, I have to go, I have works to do,"

He said, hoping his mom would listen but she didn't.

"Liam, you should come back home my son, stop doing this to us,"

Liam listen to his mom plead, he felt like a horrible son letting his mom beg him but he didn't have a choice, they weren't letting him make his own life choices, they just want to boss him and baby him and he wasn't going to have that.

"Mom I am not a kid anymore, if only you can just keep that in mind maybe we won't have to talk about the same thing over and over again, just let it go, mom, as I am not going to change my mind whatever you say or do."

"This is the worst thing your dad and I fear the most and we didn't even see it coming, Liam, you are not being fair, you are being so selfish, this shouldn't be your decision alone, we have a right to be a part of it since we gave you life,"

"Mom, enough please, I didn't get to make many choices during my birth, I haven't made any choices all through my life, and this one time, I really want things to go my own way, if that's what it takes to be selfish then I am just going to be selfish, I am sorry mom, I am hanging up,"

He said and dropped the call while his mom was still talking, he turned off his phone and slipped it into his scrub pocket just as someone walked into the pharmacy where he worked.

"Hi, welcome, how may I he***"

He greeted and paused when he saw who it was that showed up in his office, no other than the guy who hated him for no reason, Jordan, he still didn't know why Jordan had so much hatred for him when they have barely crossed part the first time he met the dude, he had been in a foul mood, and even taken his jokes the wrong way.

"Hi, I brought your money, thanks for the ride yesterday,"

He said slipping his hands in his pocket and bringing out some cash, Liam stared at him, no but he couldn't imagine he came all the way here to give him the money.

"I don't need the money, I wasn't doing it to get paid,"

He said pushing the money-back away, the guy jumped when their hands touched as if he had a disease or something.

"I don't like freebies, hate it with a passion so please take your money,"

"And I said that I don't want it, didn't you hear that? Don't worry, it's nothing special,"

"I never said it was special, I mean you are someone who is homeless, you might need to money,"

He responded, slipping the cash into his trouser pocket, and bringing out his phone, he started to type in the account number on the way, which was put there for people that didn't want to pay with cash or card.

"Stop, I did it for free, I don't need your money,"

"And I don't need your charity,"

"Dude, just give me the money and live, you are such a mood killer,"

Liam said stretching his hands, Jordan handed money to him and turned to leave, hissing loudly.

"Jordan,"

"What?"

"You are handsome,"

Liam said without thinking twice, he wasn't joking for real, the dude was beyond handsome, he had the perfect body and face that anyone would want to have.

"I know,"

Liam watched as the dude left, the guy was in a mood and even though he hated him, Liam liked his presence, maybe because he was jealous of him and his freedom to do whatever he wants without annoying parents breathing down on his throat, he had listened to his conversation with his mom and it was different from the way his was with his own mom, in Liam's case his mom won't be happy waiting outside, neither would she have slapped him on the back for keeping her waiting, she would have instead been inspecting him for any damages as if he was breakable, yes he was sick, he wasn't like every other person but still, he won't break and that's why he left home, to prove to his parents that he could be on his own and be just fine.

Liam spent the rest of the day trying to get his work done without overdoing it, even though he wanted the freedom to do things himself and just live by his own rules, he knew overdoing it might cause him a lot, he wasn't like other people no matter how he tried to think he was, he couldn't be it no matter how he tries, he has always been the sick child, the weak one, the one who couldn't do certain things, who couldn't engage in certain activities, he didn't have a normal childhood, spent most of his days either at the hospital or at home, he had been homeschooled and when he had told his parents he wanted to become a neurologist they had been so worried, they had pushed him to do pharmacy instead, in their words, it was better and requires less work, well he had listened now he wishes he had gone with his original course of choice, don't get it wrong, he loves his job but he still feels he would have been better as a neurologist.

After work, he decided to go over to see his baby, Blake, he called Blake to be sure he was hoke, the last time he spoke to Blake he had been angry, he had been at Katrina's wedding when Blake has called that he wanted to hang out, he hadn't wanted to turn Blake down so he had gone to meet him at the bar but Blake wasn't alone, he had three other friends with him and they all kept talking and ignoring him when they had brought alcohol which Blake knew he couldn't take, and Blake had let his friends Mick him, he had been so offended that he had gone out and done something he regretted and knew Blake won't like if he found out, Liam wanted to keep that secret as much as possible, it hasn't been long since he started dating Blake and this was the first time that was top in a relationship, he didn't want to ruin it even though Blake does things that piss him off.

"Hi, babe,"

"Hey,"

Liam responds kissing Blake softly.

"I didn't know you will come right now,"

"I came to cuddle, can I do that?"

"Of course,"

Blake replied hugging him, Liam breath in his fresh smell and felt himself relax, he pulled his head up claiming his lips, Blake kissed him back as they both landed on the bed, he wasn't in the mood to do anything else so he just kissed Blake again and pulled him on top of him.

"Cuddle, that's what I want to do,"

"Of course,"

Blake replied and hugged him closer.

"Can we go out?"

Blake asked a few minutes after he got to the house, Liam wasn't in the mood to go out, he just wanted to lay in bed with Blake in his arms.

"No, sorry, I don't feel like going out, can't we just stay here?"

"No, Liam, come on, let's go out,"

Blake persuaded getting off the bed.

"I just said I can't, I don't have the strength,"

Liam replied, Blake looked offended by his reply but he couldn't help it, he didn't want to go anywhere.

"Why are you so selfish Liam? Why do I feel like you don't want to be seen with me? You are so selfish, all you think about is yourself,"

Blake accused.

"That's not true,"

"Yes it is, if not, will you go hang out with me tonight?"

"Blake, I already told you, I can't go out, I don't drink, why are you still insisting on doing those things with me? I didn't keep anything from you, I came out clean before we started this relationship, you say I am selfish and not doing things with you? What do you do? I mean I do the most in this relationship, the last time I tried to do what you ask by going out with you, you left me there and left with your friends knowing that I came out for you,"

"Enough, Liam, that's enough, this is what I mean, this is why I say you are selfish Liam, you keep finding ways to play the victim card, please, there are tonnes of other sick people out there, you are not the only one with an issue, get out of your high horse,"

"I don't have time to talk about this, I may as well just leave, call me when you are in your right senses,"

Liam said, took his coat, and left Blake's apartment, where he thought he would gain some strength and motivation from some he loves and who claims to love him too, they haven't even been in a relationship for long, not even up to three months and Blake is already acting this way, he should have known better than to be sincere and told him about his condition, he thought telling him would have made it easier for the both of them to communicate but that wasn't the case, Blake still wanted him to do the things that he wasn't supposed to be doing, at this rate, he might just call it off.

Liam went back to the hotel he was currently using, he laid on the bed, for some reason he felt burnt, felt lifeless, he needed to get a new place since his old place was taking too much time getting fixed, he had been on getting a new place but everywhere he looked were either too far from his work place or too expensive and he didn't want to ask his parents for help, that why he had been thrilled when Katrina, a lady he met at the hospital one time and who he had become relatively close to had told him she would speak to a friend who owned an apartment and let him share, he was even willing to split the rent but then the friend turned out to be no other than Jordan Bach who hated him, he kissed goodbye to getting the apartment and rather tried to find other altarnatives, he considered asking his boyfriend Blake to let him move with him but Blake always have something to fight him about, what more if they move in together, it only going to get worst, so been with Blake was out of it, he wasn't going to give up, he just needed to work a little more ti earn enough for the apartment and he was going to do that...
