>The Mafia CEO Is My Alpha Mate?>Late On The First Day
Late On The First Day
It didn't take long before I saw a cab, I quickly flagged it down and it stopped in front of me. I opened the door and climbed in as I said to the driver, "No. 8 on Zed's street, Benson's Avenue."
"Sure." The chubby driver that looked to be in his forties called out to me as I pulled the door shut.
I leaned back against the seat and looked down at my right wrist to see look at Sebastian's name on my skin. Would we ever get a chance to meet again? I really hoped so and if he didn't find me, then I was going to find him. But I'll give him until tomorrow to see if he'll find me. The cab pulling to a stop pulled me out of my thoughts and I realized that we have already arrived home.
The driver looked back at me with an expectantly look, and I opened my purse. I pulled out a few dollar bills then handed it to him. He took them from me without a word with a grim look like on his face. I climbed out of the car and closed the door. The car speed away immediately and I made my way to the front door of my apartment building that I moved into after moving out of my parent's house when I graduated College.
I didn't see anyone at the lobby at this time of the night and went straight to the elevator facing the door. As I entered it, I pressed the button for the fifth floor. The doors closed and it started moving upwards. Soon, the doors were opening and I was walking out of the elevator. I made my way down the hallway and towards number B15.
I grabbed my purse and pulled out my keys from my purse then inserted them in the key hole. Twisting the key and pushing the door open, I walked inside and pushed it closed. The apartment wasn't very large since I wasn't making much and my parents were paying. But they also weren't rich, we were just managing since my dad was an underpaid cop and my mom was a stay at home mom. There was a small living room and a small bedroom with a joined bathroom then the tiny kitchen.
I headed to the couch that was beside the arm chair and a center table. I couldn't afford a TV or subscription, so I only had my personal computer, laying on the center table to watch movies and work on project. The walls were painted beige and there were no photos on the walls. However, I have two flower vases on the side tables beide the couch. I sat down on the couch and raised my foot to take off my black, heeled boots.
As soon as they were off, I was standing up and heading towards the bedroom. When I reached it, I pushed the door open and made my way to my bed right after closing the door. I was too tired to change, so I dropped down on the bed and placed my purse beside me. I let sleep take me as my mind went over to my first day at my new job tomorrow.
The sound of my phone's alarm clock made me jolt up into a sitting position. I looked around trying to remember where I left it. My eyes landed on my purse as it kept beeping. I grabbed the purse and opened it to pull out my phone. I swiped down to switch the alarm off and looked at the time showing on my phone's screen. It read 8:09AM, and I had to be at the office before 9:00AM.
"Oh God! How will I make it?"
I hoped that I wouldn't get fired on my first day at work and why in the world did I set the alarm to ring at 8:00AM instead of 7:00AM? I stood up from the bed and ran over to my drawers to pick out the clothes that I would wear to work which was a lady suit with a skirt. Pulling the drawer out, I grabbed my grey suit and then pulled the drawer for undies to pick them out before making a beeline for the bathroom.
As soon as I was done with my very quick shower and dressed in my suit, I grabbed last night's purse with my phone inside it and ran out the door of my bedroom. I knew that I had no time for food, so I ran over to the kitchen. I went straight for the fridge and grabbed a green apple before running out of the kitchen and then my apartment as I chewed on the apple.
The elevator doors opened and a man in casual dressing walked out just as I reached it. I slide in just before the doors closed and pressed the button for the last floor. By the time, the elevator doors opened, I was done eating my apple. I threw it into the waste bin beside the elevator and headed for the building's door. As soon as I was out, I stretched my hand out to hail a cab and one that was passing by stopped. I pulled the door opened and climbed in to find a woman already inside.
She frowned at me and turned to the window to ignore me. I ignored her too and looked over at the driver to rattle the company's address that I was starting work at that day, Wolfe Corp. He nodded as he threw me a glance before driving the car away, "Sure."
I leaned back against the seat and opened my purse to grab my phone. I tapped on the screen to see the time and it read, 8:59AM. God, I was definitely going to be late. I hoped that at least the boss and higher ups wouldn't be in as early, so that they wouldn't notice that I was late.
