>The Mafia CEO Is My Alpha Mate?>Mates?
Mates?
Chapter Two: Mates?
We both turned to the bar tender and he held the drink in a wine glass out towards me. I took it from him and he walked away towards the another man that was calling him a few seats from me. I stared at the caramel colored drink as I brought it closer to me before moving the glass to my lips. As soon as the liquid passed through my lips, I spit it out.
It was so harsh and bitter. That made me wonder how and why people liked drinking. No wonder mom always told me to stay away from such things. Was I really disobeying my parents just because I was heart broken by a boy that didn't even care about me?
All I knew was that I wanted to forget this pain that I was feeling and numb it away, and from what I knew from movies and the internet, alcohol could help with that. I raised the cup to my lips again to take another sip of the bitter alcohol when it was taken away from my hand. A frown fell on my brows and I looked at the culprit to see the hot man holding my wine glass.
I was about to ask him why he took it away when he spoke, "You're not the type to drink, you're going to harm yourself, cupcake."
What was with the nickname? Did I look like a cupcake? I had dark hair and hazel eyes with a tan, so I didn't know how I could relate to a cupcake. I let out a breath, "Why do you care?"
He leaned closer to me until we were only a few inches apart. I noticed that his eyes were dark and alluring, I felt that I wanted to keep staring into them. Interest showed in his eyes as he answered me, "I care because I can tell that there's something special about you and it's not just that you're a werewolf like me."
A confused frown showed on my face, "What could that be?"
He leaned back and placed the drink on the counter. He smriked as he looked back at me, "Give me your hand."
I didn't know why he asked for my hand, but I knew that the only way that you could find your mate was when you touched their hand. He probably thought that I might be his mate, and I wasn't sure since werewolf tradition has been abandoned long ago. The thing is, werewolves used to be in packs and have Alphas that lead them. They also took having a mate seriously.
However, the werewolves of our era don't stay in packs, but there are true blood Alphas. Even though there are some men that are meant to be Alpha, everyone was free to live his own life just like humans in the twenty first century. You weren't bound by packs, but you could still choose to follow a particular Alpha.
Some of us also don't take the issue of mates seriously, so they find partners among humans or other werewolves with the same idealogy. But most of us do take having mates very seriously. So that must be why he wanted to see if I was his destined soul mate. I extended my hand towards him and his gaze held mine as he pressed his palm against mine then held it. That was only when he broke our gaze to look at our hands.
I looked at them too to see both of our wrists shimmer as the writing of our names appeared on each other's inner wrists. Sebastian was written on mine with black ink as if it were a tattoo while Kat was written on his with black ink too. He took his hand away from mine and I missed its warmth and tingling sensation.
I smiled at him as I stated, "You're my mate, Sebastian."
He maintained his smile as he looked amused, "That I am, Kat. Is your name short for Katherine or Katarina?"
"No, just Kat, that's why only those three letters appeared." I replied as my gaze traveled back to my alcoholic drink on the counter.
"That's unique and interesting." He said as he leaned one of his elbows against the counter.
"I know, that's probably why my parents named me that way." I replied just as his phone started ringing from his pocket.
He placed his hand in his pocket and pulled out his phone. He looked at the screen then glanced at me, "Let me take this."
"Sure." I replied and watched as he answered the phone. He placed it against his ear as he started walking away from me and towards the crowd. I pulled out my phone too, but from my white purse and scrolled through my messages on WhatsApp. I also checked the time to see that it was half past eight.
Time soon went by and it was almost 9:00PM. I didn't know if Sebastian was even coming back or was it something urgent that made him leave? It looked like he was serious about finding his mate, so why wasn't he back yet? I was very tired and I wanted to go home, but I didn't want to leave without meeting Sebastian again.
I was also starting my new job tomorrow morning. What was I supposed to do? After some thinking, I decided to look for him around the area that I saw him head to. So I placed my phone back inside my purse and stood up. I walked towards the crowd and looked around for him, but I couldn't find him.
I stretched my neck here and there to see if I can see him amongst the throng of people dancing to the hip hop music, but still couldn't find him. Sighing, I gave up on the search and decided to go home. So I walked towards the door of the restaurant/club and made my way out. I walked to the curb and looked left and right, trying to get a cab to take me home.
