>Girlfriend? For Hire!>Chapter 40
Chapter 40
Wyatt's Point of View
"Is that all that you want to talk about?" I looked at him.
"No," he said, shaking his head. "That's not what I wanted to tell you. What I really wanted to talk to you about was the photo that got leaked. I found out who's behind it."
I frowned and asked, "Who?"
"It was from..."
BANG!
The door opened loudly, so I couldn't hear what Hans said next—the name of the person who spread the image of me and Aiden.
"Damn! It's tiring to go upstairs!" Jacob complained while wiping his sweat.
Yuan opened the mineral bottle he was holding, handed it to Jacob, and said, "Oh, drink first; you're always complaining."
After Jacob got the water, Yuan sat down next to Hans. While Jacob remained standing and drank the water that Yuan gave him.
"What were you talking about before we came?" Jacob asked. "It looks like your topic was deep. Can we join in?" He added more. After he finished drinking, he sat next to Yuan.
The three of them were next to each other while I was in front of them. It looked like the three of them were interrogating me.
Hans answered Jacob's question, "Nothing."
"What's wrong? Go ahead with what you're going to say," I requested.
"I told you already; you just didn't hear it," he replied. He took his food from Yuan and looked at me again. "It's not my fault if you didn't hear."
"Which one? What is your topic? I can't relate, huh," Jacob asked before taking his food from the bag he was carrying. He handed the other one to me.
I was about to answer when Yuan suddenly asked a question; that is why I didn't get a chance to answer. "Oh, why does your eye look swollen, Wyatt?"
"Ah, because I lack sleep," I lied.
" Moron! Lack of sleep, he said; your eyes weren't like that earlier! Just tell us the truth, what are you guys talking about?" Jacob said. They obviously don't believe what I said.
"Is it about Aiden?" Yuan asked.
Jacob's mouth forms an 'O'. "What? Really?" He asked, still looking at Hans and me.
Hans heaved a sigh and asked, "Can we eat first? I'm hungry."
"No, we can't," Jacob answered immediately. "We need to know about what you're talking about. Now. As in now!"
Because of Jacob's insistence, Hans did nothing but tell them everything we talked about, even though most of it was his ranting with me.
"Oh, so... Whose picture is it from? And how did you know?" Yuan asked after listening to everything Hans said.
Hans took a deep breath before speaking, "I won't mention her name just because I don't like her. I will mention her name because the photo was really from her, okay?" He took a deep breath again before stating the culprit's name. "The photo was from Agleen." When he mentioned that woman's name, he looked at me.
"What?" I scoffed.
"Why? Don't you believe me?" He sniggered. "Do I need to show you the proof that it was really from her? That the main reason for your breakup was really her. From the woman you reconnected with just to save your goddamn face. The woman you replaced Aiden with."
"If you really have the proof, then show it to me. Don't just blubber it out," I challenged.
Not that I'm saying Hans is a liar. I just couldn't believe that Agleen was the one who did everything when I knew that Agleen didn't know about me and Aiden.
I know he hates her because of what I did to Aiden, but I don't want him to accuse Agleen just because of that. I don't want him to sully the name of an innocent person because he hates that person.
If it's true that Agleen knows about Aiden and me, why would she spread the picture of the two of us? What for? What is the reason for her to do that?
"Sure," he said, pulling his phone from his pocket."Let's see if I'm really telling the truth or not."
"Maybe you photoshopped it?" Jacob asked Hans.
Before Hans could answer, Jacob received a hit from Yuan.
"Ouch!" Jacob groaned, then caressed the part that Yuan had hit. Jacob turned to Yuan while his two eyebrows met, asking, "What's wrong with you? You attacked me all of a sudden, huh? Are you crazy?"
"Tsk." Yuan clicked his tongue and crossed his arms. "If you're going to accuse Hans, it should be the believable one. Does that idiot look like he knows how to Photoshop?"
Jacob laughed loudly because of what Yuan said, while Yuan received a curse from Hans.
"That's enough," I closed my eyes and sighed. "Where's the proof you're talking about, Hans? Don't mind them; you will just waste time. Just give me the proof that will prove that Agleen was really behind that leaked photo."
"That hurts, huh," Jacob commented. He even touched his chest dramatically.
"Wow," Hans chuckled mockingly. "You don't really believe me, do you? Well, then take a look at this," he added, then handed me his phone.
Jacob and Yuan immediately went to my side as soon as I got the cell phone, while Hans started eating, not caring about us.
At first, I thought that the proof he was citing was just a picture that would prove that the photo was really from Agleen, but it was not. This is a video where Agleen's face is clearly visible while holding a white envelope. Outside the envelope, I saw a photograph. I paused the video to take a closer look at what that picture is. I felt like I lost my breath for a moment when I saw who was in the picture that Agleen was holding. It was me and Aiden. It was a photo of me and Aiden... Kissing.
I played the video again to see what would happen next. The woman that Agleen handed an envelope and a photo to took something from her bag. She took a cell phone from her bag. They talked for a while. I don't know what the two of them were talking about because it looks like they are both outside a fast food or restaurant, and the one who made the video is inside. That's why the conversation between the two can't be heard.
The next thing that happened was that the woman took a picture of the picture that Agleen gave and pressed something on her cellphone for a moment. After finishing, they talked again, and after a few moments, they both parted ways. The video ended when Agleen got into her car.
So, it was really her. Fuck it! I fell into her trap. I left Aiden to be with her—to be with the woman who ruined us. If I had just searched for the person who spread the photo, I wouldn't have chosen her. I would never get back to her. Fuck. Why do I need to know this right now?
Why is it that everything I should have known from the start is always revealed when it's too late?Bullshit!
"Eat first," I said. I stood up and immediately went out onto the rooftop.
I hurriedly ran to Agleen's classroom. I know her schedule because she gave me a copy, even though I didn't ask for it.
I want to know her side because I don't want to have any regrets again. It's not that I want her to clear her name. It's just that I want to know her reason and, at the same time... I want to end our relationship.
I don't know what to feel. I never suspected her; I didn't know she could do that. No matter what I think, I can't think of a good reason for her to do that.
When I got to the floor where Agleen's classroom was, I ran even faster until I reached that room. I opened it forcefully, and immediately my eyes wandered inside to look for Agleen.
"Excuse me? What do you need?" The professor in front asked.
If he hadn't spoken, I wouldn't have noticed him. Maybe that's why I noticed that the other students inside were surprised by my sudden opening of the door. But I didn't have time to pay attention to them all, so I just ignored their stares.
Before I could answer the professor's question, I noticed a student standing in the corner of my eye. When I turned around, I saw Agleen. There was a look of shock on her face as she looked at me.
"Wyatt," she called me.
Instead of answering the professor's question, I just went inside and pulled Agleen out of the room without saying goodbye. I even heard the screams of her classmates because of what I did.
What do they think? I pulled Agleen for a date? Well, they make mistakes.
"Wait, Wyatt!" Agleen yelled in the midst of me yanking her. When I ignored her, she violently withdrew her hand from my grip.
I turned to her. Before, I didn't even feel any irritation, but since I saw her face earlier, my chest suddenly flared up with anger.
Fuck. How could she fool me?
"What's the problem? Don't you know that subject is my major? What if he lowers my grade?" Her voice was irritated when she asked.
"Is it true—" I didn't finish what I was going to say when she cut me off.
"Let's talk later, okay? I have to go back there," she uttered. She was about to turn around when I grabbed her wrist to stop her.
"No. Let's have a talk now," I insisted.
She sighed, showing that she was giving up. "Fine. Make it short. But can't we really talk about it later?"
"We need to talk about this now," I answered. "I need an honest answer, got it?"
"All right," she shrugged.
"Why did you do that? Huh? Why did you pay someone to spread the photo of Aiden and me?" I grabbed her shoulders tightly and said, "Why the fucking hell?!"
"W-What? What are you t-talking about?" She asked as her eyes trembled.
Wow, is she going to pretend that she didn't do it? For fuck's sake, I already saw the video. She's got nothing to hide from me now.
I scoffed, "Trying to deny it, huh?"
She shook her head. "Why would I deny something I didn't do? What the heck? Are you playing a prank or something? Is there a hidden camera here?"
"Don't fuck with me," I grumbled."Do I still have to show you the video that you were giving money to someone with a picture of me and Aiden?"
She removed my hands from her shoulders and asked, "So what? So what if I did that? You're not even gay, Wyatt! You're just infected by your gay best friend! Shouldn't you be thanking me now? I saved you! I saved you from that goddamn gay!"
"Hey," I moved closer to her and pulled her ID lace. "Don't talk shit with Aiden. Even if you're a girl, I wouldn't hesitate to spank you."
Her eyes shrank. "Don't tell me... You're really in love with that guy?" She laughed mockingly. "So you are bisexual, huh? But what's the point of knowing what I did anyway? You have me now, and he is already gone. You did leave him for me, didn't you? Doesn't that mean you love me more than him?"
"Fuck all your nonsense, Agleen," I clenched my teeth. Because of my annoyance, I pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground. "Why did you do that?"
"Are you really asking me that? Isn't it obvious that I did that because I love you, huh?!" She shouted at the back of her stomach. She stood up and looked me in the eye. "I love you; that's why..." She bowed her head, and just a few seconds later, I heard her sobs. "I only did that because I wanted us to go back to the way we were before. I know it's my fault because I left you before. If I hadn't left you then, maybe you two wouldn't have had a relationship. When I saw you two kissing, I was surprised. I couldn't believe what I saw, and that's why I took a picture of you two. As I looked at your picture for a long time, anger and jealousy rose in my chest. And that's when I thought of spreading your picture. I know that no matter how many times I say sorry, it is unlikely that you will forgive me. Sorry, Wyatt. I'm so sorry."
