Chapter 11 The Man was Pretty Considerate
Jason handed over the marriage certificate and said, "Are you here to see me or the certificate?"
"Alison and the certificate. Who wants to see you?" The old man unfolded the certificate and beamed at the sight of Jason and Alison's photo.
"Nice, great."
Alison hurriedly helped the old man to sit down, "Grandpa, why didn't you log in to the WeChat account that I applied for you? I invited you for a video chat, but you didn't answer."
"I'm old and not good at it." The old man smiled, "I only wish all the best for you and that you can visit me often."
"Sure, grandpa, I'll come as often as I can." Alison answered seriously and sincerely.
Thanks to the old man's presence, the common dinner became quite harmonious.
To display her appreciation of the daughter-in-law in front of the old man, Sarah offered to select a few sets of jewelry and have them sent to Jason's house as a gift.
Quite satisfied, the old man left happily after the meal.
Jason and Alison sat for a while longer, listening to Sarah's business talk. Then, he rubbed his third eye area, "Mom, it's late. We should head back."
"Alright."
Sarah walked them to the door and asked, "As far as I can remember, it's the date of your reexamination today. How is it?"
"Not bad." Jason answered blandly, "According to the doctor, it's not a big issue."
Alison involuntarily cast her eyes up, but obviously, the man looked sick...
On their way back, Alison visibly looked a little down. Jason noticed it and asked, "What are you sad for?"
Alison curled up her lips to force a smile, "Nothing, just a little tired."
"Have some sleep then."
No sooner had his voice died away than a phone call came in. He picked up and talked in fluent English.
His voice was pleasant, deep, and clear. His dragging tone was quite soothing.
Alison closed her eyes and somehow fell asleep amid his gentle and slow voice.
When she woke up, she found the man's business suit on top of her, and the car already stopped at the parking lot. The man was swiftly taping on a tablet, seemingly in working mode.
Alison moved, "Sorry, I fell asleep... Why didn't you wake me up?"
"Just arrived." The man replied simply, put away the tablet, and rubbed his third eye area, "Let's go."
"Okay."
Alison got off and felt pleased. Unexpectedly, the man was pretty considerate.
While thinking, Alison tidied up his suit and put it on her elbow. Her cautious look amused Jason.
"Let me have it."
Alison handed the suit to him, "Thanks."
"Mm." The man hummed and casually carried the suit in his hand.
Alison suspected that 'You're welcome' was not in Jason's dictionary. Every time she thanked him, he just hummed.
Seemingly quite tired, the man changed his shoes and went straight upstairs. Alison heated a cup of milk and drank it. Thinking for a moment, she heated another cup for him.
Standing outside his door with the milk, Alison hesitated before knocking on the door, "Jason, I've heated milk for you."
No sounds came from inside.
Alison wondered if Jason was asleep...
But a glass of warm milk was nutritious and conducive to sleep.
It was quite beneficial to a patient like him.
Confirming the thought, Alison knocked on the door again, "Jason... are you asleep?"
She twisted the knob and somehow opened the door. After a moment of hesitation, she sneaked in.
