Chapter 10 We're Already Married
Jason directly led Alison into the foyer. After changing into slippers, he guided her to the living room and took their seats.
Sarah restrained her embarrassment and led Mia to follow.
"Alison, I've never seen you before. Did you and Jason just meet?" Sarah took a look at the anxious Alison.
"... No." Alison lowered her voice and said diffidently, "We... met ten years ago."
During the first meeting with her mother-in-law, she certainly could not lie.
"Ten years ago?" Sarah looked confused, "Why haven't I seen you before?"
"I usually went to visit grandpa." Alison replied honestly, "I didn't come often."
Sarah was upset by her words. In the past half a year, the old man indeed had arranged blind dates for Jason.
"May I know the name of your father?" Sarah inquired, "I don't know any Clark Family in Sea City."
Alison was dazed, "My father, he..."
At the sight of the little woman's grief and frustration, Jason frowned.
"Mom, your memory is poor. You forgot what happened ten years ago?"
Sarah felt uncomfortable with Jason's chilling gaze. Ten years ago?
She was suddenly dazed. That car accident?
She quickly searched the depth of her mind and vaguely remembered another car on the site of the accident. One person died, and another was injured. The deceased seemed to be surnamed Clark...
So, Alison was that man's daughter?
Sarah's heart pounded uneasily. That incident was a knot in Jason's heart for ten years, and he allowed no one to bring it up.
Sarah skipped that part and asked, "So, you are?"
Jason took out the red marriage certificate from his pocket, pushed it to her, and spoke in a bland voice.
"We're already married, and this is the certificate. Starting today, Alison is my wife, so, don't bother arranging blind dates for me."
Sarah's gaze landed on the marriage certificate, and she instantly got mixed feelings.
Not reconciled, Mia took the marriage certificate to the front and opened it. Their photos came into view, and the seal mark on top could be clearly seen.
It was real.
She changed countenance. If Sarah didn't insist on claiming that Jason bore her in his heart, she wouldn't have been so condescending and swallowed her pride after he stood her up twice.
As the renowned lady from the Vishon Family and the new film queen, she was embarrassed by Jason to the core.
If this went out, how was she supposed to establish herself in the circle?
Originally, she thought their childhood friendship could turn into steadfast romance. Unexpectedly!
It was all her own wishful thinking!
"Sarah, I just remember I still have an urgent issue to deal with and should go."
Mia got up, picked up her bag, and left without saying goodbye to Jason.
Noticing Jason's determined look, Sarah knew that was it. At least, there was no leeway for the time being. As a result, she simply rose to arrange dinner.
Alison heaved a sigh of relief, gulped down the water in the cup, and felt much better.
At her move, Jason said nonchalantly, "Why are you so nervous?"
Alison denied, "I'm not."
Jason curled up his lips, lowered his head, and continued to flip through a financial magazine in his hands.
Alison involuntarily landed her eyes on the man. With his legs crossed, he leaned gracefully on the sofa and rested his head on one hand. Under the light, his sculpted features looked gentle.
So handsome.
Dashing.
Stunning.
What a pity...
Alison shook her head. He could only live another six months.
"Alison." The deep and vigorous voice of old Mr. Moore came over from the living room door. Then he showed up on a crutch.
"Grandpa." Alison smiled instantly and rushed up to support him.
Jason also put down the book and stood up, "Grandpa, how are you doing lately?"
"Pretty good." The old man responded casually and asked, "Where is your marriage certificate? Show it to me."
