Chapter 5 Just Eager for Peace

Nicole was surprised by the butler's look. It seemed that he was more satisfied with her being the young mistress.

"What do you mean? Do you want to make the call on behalf of Hugh and take my sister back with you?"

The butler instantly moved his gaze back and bowed to Tammy, "I don't have the right to decide it for our young master. Madam, please get in the car."

Tammy followed them to leave without bidding goodbye to Linda.

Until all sounds outside were gone, Linda finally inched her way out of the room. Her eyes were red, her face filled with exhaustion.

Nicole raised her head for a glance at Linda, her eyes gradually turning cold and resumed her business. Only the disappointment that she could never live with inadvertently flashed across her eyes.

Although she tried her best to disguise, Linda still detected it.

Linda shook her head silently and spoke cruelly, "Don't get your hands on things that Tammy likes, could you..."

Maybe out of a little guilt, Linda reached out her arm and stroked Nicole's smooth long hair.

This was the tender love Nicole craved for, but now she felt shivers down her spine.

She wanted to announce that she had never vied with Tammy for anything. Would anyone believe her?

"I see." Nicole opened her mouth and spoke in a vague voice.

"Nicole." Linda looked Nicole in the eyes and spoke in a serious tone, "People should be grateful. It's Steven who provides for you. You have clothes to wear, food to eat, and school to attend. Otherwise, our life will be unimaginably poor, and you wouldn't have had the chance to go to an Academy of Fine Arts."

"I see."

She was still not angry, but her eyes become increasingly mistier, as Linda mentioned gratitude repeatedly.

Nicole slightly let out a sigh but couldn't pour out her grievances over the years.

"Don't try to brush me off." At the sight of a cold smile on her daughter's face, Linda moved her hand away and looked guiltily at Nicole.

"Okay." Nicole curled up her lips, restrained the tears in her eyes, and dropped her voice, "I should go for some business."

"As for the Edwards Family, I'm not sure if the man could remember my face, so conduct yourself."

The door was closed again. Nicole looked up at the sky and grinned from ear to ear.

But bitter tears fell into her mouth and spread to the tip of her tongue.

If anyone asked her about what she wanted, how would they have to worry that she would vie with Tammy?

All that she wanted was someone who could love her, give her a home, and live an ordinary life with her.

Maybe this was life. When one's desire was simple, no one would believe her.

She raised her sleeve to wipe her eyes, walked out of the neighborhood, scanned the code to rent an OFO bike, and rode to the airport.

Someone was coming back today, so cheer up. Nicole comforted herself...

She pedaled vigorously, put on earphones, hummed a song, grits blown into her eyes, and tears fell bitterly.

All walks of life in the streets were bustling for their livelihood and didn't really pay attention to a girl with red eyes.

She arrived at the airport and returned the bike.

She took out the wet tissue to wipe her face clean and then walked into the airport.

When Nicole just walked into the entrance, a pair of slender hands suddenly held her from behind.

"Pervert!"

Out of instinct, Nicole flung her head backward and tried to break free.

But she didn't succeed this time.

Seemingly well prepared, the person behind her avoided the collision easily, clasped her waist to turn her around, and held her in his arms.

Nicole cursed inwardly.

Was she in bad luck this year? Why did she repeatedly come across such kind of people!

It was a desolate place last time, but she was in an airport this time. With so many people around, she didn't believe that someone dared to rape her.

In the blink of an eye, she opened her mouth and bit the person's arm.

In pain, the other party loosened his grip a bit.

"Are you a wolf? So grumpy!"

A pleasant voice with enchanting charm came from above.

She found it so familiar.

After a moment of daze, Nicole raised her head and looked at the man.

Then her head buzzed, and her legs became limp.
