Chapter 13 I Do Like Mary

Mike Johnson maintained a standoffish expression, narrowed his eyes, and slowly opened his mouth. "I do like Mary."

At the words, Anna Lee's eyes lit up, hoping that the young man before her eyes, who seemed to be much richer than Eric Cater, would pay them a higher price to obtain Mary Miller.

"Five million yuan. Mr. Carter has given us five million. If you're willing to pay more, Mary will then be yours." There were lights of greed flashing across Anna's eyes.

Mike curled up his lips into a cold smile. "I will double the offer."

"Ten million yuan?!" Anna raised her volume in disbelief.

In fact, all the members of the Wood Family could not resist the temptation of the price.

Mia Wood and Grace Wood's envy of Mary ballooned. Why had such a wonderful man chosen that woman? They knew that the Johnson Group was worth hundreds of millions of yuan and were curious about how wealthy Mike might be.

Flames of jealousy were surging up in the two women's eyes.

Soon, Anna and Mike made a deal. Anna promised that once she got the ten million yuan from Mike, she would refund the money from Eric Carter so that he would stop annoying Mary.

After signing a check for the Wood Family, Mike asked Mary to pack her belongings up.

The woman went upstairs and quickly came back to the living room with a suitcase containing some clothes, her identifications, and diplomas.

Anna was still drooling over that check.

Hank walked over to Mary to help her carry the case.

Mary stopped in front of Frank Wood and made a bow to him. "Uncle Frank, thank you for your bringing-up over the twelve years. From today, I don't owe you anything. I'm leaving."

Staring at the woman, Frank felt slightly guilty and grieved. No matter how, Mary was the daughter of his sister, and he regretted that he failed to resist Eric Carter's temptation as five million yuan were an astronomical sum of money to him.

Mary turned to shoot the final glance at her cousins and aunt.

"Let's go." Mike took Mary's hand and stepped outwards.

Hank followed them up with the suitcase in his hand.

Grace rolled her eyes and caught Mary up. "Let me walk you out."

Holding Mary's hand intimately, Grace put on a friendly look and said to her cousin. "Mary, it's your blessing that Mr. Johnson likes you so much. You should seize the opportunity, serve him well, listen to him, and never upset him. You hear me?"

Mary looked at Grace in surprise as the other woman's tone of voice was full of sarcasm, and the values she was trying to deliver were so outdated and unenlightened.

At the gate of the house, Grace continued saying, "Mary, come back to see us often, and do bring Mr. Johnson together with you. Remember that we will miss you."

Hank put Mary's suitcase in the trunk of the car.

At this moment, Mia and her mother were peeping at what was going on outside from a window. Seeing that Mike's private vehicle was a Rolls Royce, Mia said to her mother in a joking tone of voice, "Gosh. Look at that car. Sell me to that man as well, Mom. I'm so jealous of Mary."

Before Mary was going to get in the car, Grace added, "Call me when you're free so that we can hang out from time to time."

Mike opened the door for Mary and slammed it after the woman got seated. The sound startled Grace.

Mike then got in from the other side of the vehicle.
