Chapter 19 Stopped Her from Drinking
Two days later, in a private Izakaya.
Taylor looked at the man who sat on the other end of the table with a decent smile, "Mr. Pike, may I know your opinion about our designs?"
"They are not fashionable." Instead of looking at the documents in front of him, Mr. Pike gently stroked the wine bottle and glanced outside the door occasionally.
"...Can you be more specific about that?" The smile on Taylor's face was becoming more and more official.
Mr. Pike was a client of Happy Summer Jewelry Studio who claimed that he wanted to send a set of jade jewelry to his wife.
The studio had sent three designers to talk with him. Yet Mr. Pike was not satisfied with all their designs and gave a lot of useless comments.
For example, "I don't like it", "It is strange" and that "they are not fashionable."
Jane could not handle that and made Taylor responsible for this case.
"If I know how to design, I will not come to you and pay the money." Mr. Pike touched his gold necklace, got the cigar from the table, and put it under his nose with an impatient look.
Taylor was about to say something when he suddenly rose and waved his hands towards the door, "You are here finally!"
Taylor looked at that direction and understood something when she saw Wence walking toward them.
"If you are late for one more second, I will be bored to death by your girl." Mr. Pike punched Wence's shoulder and nodded towards the designs on the table, "I've cheated her out. Now it is your business. I am leaving now."
Taylor: ...
Could you be less frank when I was here?
"Thanks. I will send you a good present later." Wence nodded and did not sit until Mr. Pike went away. He looked at Taylor with a bright smile, "Taylor, it is a long time since we met last time."
"Now I understand why Mr. Pike was unsatisfied with the work of other designers. It's you." Taylor put on a fake smile and wanted to get those designs back.
For every design cost the efforts of designers and she would not leave them here to be looked down upon.
"Don't be angry about that." Wence put his hand on the designs, "You are so busy and it's hard to invite you for a meal. I have no other choice but to do this. If you are angry, I can buy these designs."
He smiled at Taylor and there was calculation in his eyes.
"Then I will thank you for your generosity on behalf of other designers." Taylor smiled and retreated her hands, "Since you are satisfied with these designs, we--"
"Taylor, all I want is to have a meal with you. Must you be so indifferent to me?" There was some hate hidden in his smile, "It's inevitable to suffer losses if you keep acting in this way in the business world."
"Is it true that a meal is what you want?" Taylor looked at him straightforwardly.
"Of course, I promise I won't say any offensive words to you after the meal." Wence stroked the ring on his thumb, "I can't always show excessive passion to a cold person. Taylor, can you just respect my feelings?"
"I believe you are a man who will fulfill your words." Taylor picked up the water in front of her and drank.
"That's true." Wence turned and called the waiter, "Serve us your specialties."
"Okay." The waitress smiled softly, "What drink do you want?"
"The best sake."
"Okay, wait for a moment." The waitress looked at Wence and left clogs.
"Mr. Johnson, I have to go to the studio this afternoon--"
"It's okay. I will have the sake and you can drink tea." Wence interrupted and seemed not to force her.
In the following period, Wence talked only about the designs as if he had given up.
Few did Taylor get to her chopsticks. And she ate little and drank a little water.
And Taylor signed with relief in her heart when the meal came to an end.
"I was rude and offended you before, hope you can forgive me." Wence picked up an empty cup that was inverted on the table and poured her some sake and handed it to her, "Hope you can drink this cup of sake and forgive me. Don't worry, it is only a little and won't influence your work."
Taylor looked at the cup and took it after thinking for a while.
There should not be any problem as the cup was new and he had drunk the sake.
"Hope you will be satisfied with our designs." She raised the cup and sent it to her mouth.
Yet a slender hand took the cup away before she drank it.
Taylor turned around and was stunned when she saw Daniel.
Why he was here?
Why he took away her cup?
"Mr. Brook, Mr. Kent." Wence shivered and greeted to them anxiously.
"Mr. Johnson, you do have a taste," Leon responded with a smile.
"You finish the meal?" Daniel looked at Taylor and asked without any expression. Although he was asking a question, he said it in an affirmative tone.
"What's the matter?" Taylor responded with a question without any expression also.
"Follow me." Daniel looked at her face and turned back to walk outside.
Taylor was angry about his words as she did not agree.
"Taylor, you know his nature. Don't be angry. Just follow him and speak out your conflicts." Leon was smiling by her side.
Taylor looked at him inexplicably, took her handbag, and went out.
"Mr. Johnson, hope you enjoy your meal." Leon smiled at Wence and followed them.
Wence looked at their backs. After a long time, he wiped away the sweat on his head.
He did not anticipate that Taylor knew Daniel.
He was lucky enough that he had not done anything yet.
Or he might be a nameless corpse in a mortuary.
Then he suddenly remembered something and goggled at the cup on the table.
Just now--
Just now Daniel appeared suddenly. Did Daniel see him put drugs in the cup?
No, he could not!
If Daniel found it, how could he stand here safe and sound?
Yes! He did not see it!
He must not see it!
Wence fell on the tatami. He was sweating due to fear although it was early spring now.
When stepping out of the door, Taylor walked towards the main road without looking at the other two people.
"Hey!" Leon was quick with his hands and grabbed her immediately.
