Chapter 17 None of Your Business

There were four children in the Grey Family. Abigail was the third eldest and only adoptive daughter, and all the other children were delivered by Mrs. Grey.

Abigail's origins were quite complicated. To put it simply, her biological father died for Arthur, her adoptive father, and her biological mother became depressed ever since and died of a serious illness. To requite Abigail's parents, Mrs. Grey, her adoptive mother, adopted her and provided her a decent life.

Abigail had always been aware that Mrs. Grey treated her well not because she liked her but because she wanted to pay a debt of gratitude.

Among the other children of the Grey Family, Paul had been genuinely kind to Abigail, Tina had been indifferent to her, while Meg had been hating her.

In fact, Meg had a crush on George even before that accident had happened to Tina.

"This is my brother-in-law's apartment. I come here whenever I want to. It's none of your business." Meg shot a sidelong glance at Abigail and then said sarcastically, "Look at you! You've married into the Gates Family for almost three years, yet you're still wearing those humble clothes. Cannot you put on some decent jewelry? I don't want other people to think that the Grey Family has been bad to you."

Abigail raised her brows.

Though her outfit was not very pretty, it was a gift from Grandfather Oliver and was costly.

Besides, as Abigail did not want to maintain any relationship with the Grey Family, she had not taken a penny from the Grey Family.

"No matter what I am wearing, people will only laugh at me and the Gates Family. What does it have to do with you?" Abigail replied with a smile.

Upon seeing the smile on Abigail's seemingly innocent face, Meg flew into a rage. "Don't forget that George is my brother-in-law!"

At the mention of George, Meg had the urge to scratch Abigail's face. If she were not too young back then, Oliver would not have chosen Abigail to marry George!

"Don't think that you can behave arrogantly in front of me because you're now a member of the Gates Family. You owe me one. Don't forget about that!" At Meg's yell, Abigail withdrew her smile.

Abigail was still a young girl when she got adopted into the Grey Family. Therefore, she followed the other children to call Mrs. Grey mother. Meg felt annoyed about that and bullied her. When they had a fight, Abigail accidentally left a scar on Meg's arm. Later, Meg went to South Korea and had surgery to remove the scar.

"I've paid off what I owed you a long time ago." In fact, it was Abigail who offered the skin for Meg's surgery.

"That's just a little compensation. Your sins are far from being atoned." Meg said as if she owned the truth.

Abigail did not want to get into an unnecessary tangle with Meg. She inserted the key into the door and tilted her head to reveal a cold smile at Meg, saying, "That's just what you think! You are not welcome here, please go back."

She then entered the apartment.

The fact that Abigail had the key to George's apartment intensified Meg's hatred against her. She rushed over to grab the other woman's arm and put forward a sensitive question, "Has my brother contacted you over the last few years?"

At the question, Abigail stiffened all over.

Meg curled up her lips into a mean smile, feeling satisfied with Abigail's response.

Without warning, Meg's words stabbed into Abigail's heart like countless needles and produced a sharp pain in there.

"It's none of your damn business!"

At this moment, Meg pushed Abigail and entered the apartment. After sitting on the sofa and giving a sidelong glance at Abigail, she took out her cell phone to call George. "Hello? It's me..."

Tamping down the pain in her heart, Abigail stepped into the room and ignored the other woman.

She entered the bedroom, found her clothes in the wardrobe, fetched a big suitcase, put all her stuff inside, and then zipped the case.

When she got out of the bedroom, she found that George was back, and Meg was holding his arm intimately.
