Chapter 5 Getting Sick
After a cold bath, the delicate woman caught a cold. But she didn't see a doctor or call anybody. She just locked herself in the bedroom and lay on the bed without eating or drinking anything.
Losing contact with Sara for three days, Nancy came to her house.
She opened Sara's bedroom lightly with the spare key. The curtains were drawn, blocking all the light from outside. In the darkness, a faint fit of coughing made her stomach knot with worry.
She turned on the light and saw Sara on the bed with a pale look. Walking fast to the bedside, she frowned and gnashed her teeth. "Oh my! Sara White, you don't need to make yourself like this because of a man!"
Eyelids drooping, Sara pressed her lips and remained silent, which made Nancy stamp with anger.
"Get up. I'll take you to the hospital." Nancy forced the woman as weak as a kitten up.
Eyes glistening with tears, Sara started to weep. "Nancy, I... I did something wrong. I..." Facing her trustworthy friend, she told all she remembered about that night.
After learning what had happened, Nancy sighed and held Sara's trembling shoulders. Softly, she said, "Why do you wear such heavy shackles? All these years, Kent has never cared about you! He has so many affairs outside! Then why must you be loyal to him? It's just a one-night stand, not a big deal."
Sara was rendered speechless by Nancy's open-mindedness.
"All right, don't think that much. But did you eat the pill after that?" Nancy asked.
"Ah?" Sara blushed and shook her head. "No..."
Nancy flicked Sara's forehead and then comforted softly, "It may be fine. I remember our ovulation periods are close. It might be your safe period several days ago."
Thanks to the consolation from a good friend, Sara felt slightly better.
Nancy looked at Sara and said, "We women must be confident and strong all the time. Sara, I don't allow you to be drowned in sadness alone. You can call me anytime. Don't cry for an unworthy man anymore. Understand? Let's go. I'll take you to the hospital." After saying, she held Sara's arm and walked out of the door with her.
Seeing the opposite closed door, Sara felt very nervous.
In her vague memory, that man was as tall and handsome as Kent, but she didn't remember who he was exactly like. Thinking about that, she frowned slightly.
Knowing what was in Sara's head, Nancy smiled. "One-night stands are too common in this society now. Just relax."
When Sara was about to reply, the opposite door was suddenly opened, and a white-suited man walked out gracefully. He had a gorgeous face with flawless facial features, and his skin was ivory white rather than popular bronze. From head to foot, he showed an air of elegance as well as coldness.
Sara looked at him in a daze, revealing complicated emotions in her eyes. Suddenly, she felt so embarrassed that she lowered her head in a hurry.
The man just glanced at her and Nancy before he strode to the elevator and pressed the lower button.
Without any doubt, the sudden meeting came as a humiliation to Sara. She wanted to hide in her house, but Nancy dragged her to the elevator calmly. Helpless, Sara could only wait quietly with the man.
Standing next to him, she couldn't help sneaking a glance at him who still looked indifferent as if he didn't know her. At least, he didn't mean to say hello to her.
Secretly, Sara despised herself in her heart. Perhaps this man had experienced many such things and had forgotten that night. If so, it was too silly to immerse herself in regret and shame.
Thinking this way, she felt much relieved. With a lighter mood, she stood straight and kept waiting for the elevator.
