Chapter 3 Amnesia
The persistent ringing of the cell phone was particularly harsh in the quiet bedroom.
Quentin irritably lifted the covers off himself and reached out to take the phone from the nightstand with a gloomy expression on his face.
Meanwhile, he thought inwardly, "It better be something urgent. Otherwise..."
"Mr. Lloyd, the woman you took to the hospital earlier today has woken up. However, the examination shows that she might have lost her memories. So, please come to the hospital as soon as possible."
"I see."
After hanging up, Quentin tossed the phone away and lay back down under the covers.
Why should he care whether she lost her memories or not? He did not know...
"Wait for a second, she lost her memories?"
Quentin sat up abruptly, and his expression frequently changed while he was lost in thoughts.
...
One month later.
Bree got discharged from the hospital on this day. Aside from the loss of her memories, her body almost healed.
Eventually, she extricated herself from the disinfectant smell in the hospital and felt refreshed.
Even when Quentin called to say that he was busy and could not pick her up, it did not damage her great mood in the least.
Bree hailed a cab to the address Quentin told her and opened the door to the house with the key Quentin gave her. Then, she looked around the place and found her room.
It was spacious, well-lit, simple, and equipped with everything she needed.
Because of her injuries, Bree had only been able to use a sponge and warm water to clean herself up for over a month, and she felt itchy and uncomfortable all over.
Therefore Bree decided to take a nice bath in the clean and tidy bathroom and put in a full bathtub of hot water.
The warmth of the water wrapped around her body and the faint scent of fragrance filled her nose. Involuntarily, she let out a sigh of enjoyment and relief.
But not long after, Bree vaguely heard the sound of the door opening outside the bathroom.
Someone entered?
Who was it?
When Bree came to her senses, the bedroom door had been opened, and the footsteps were approaching.
Bree broke out in a cold sweat and hastily pulled a towel to enwrap her body.
There was nothing in the bathroom that she could take to defend herself.
Calmly, Bree grabbed the largest bottle of personal hygiene products she could find and ducked by the door, holding it aloft as she waited with bated breath.
The sound of footsteps stopped at the bathroom door, and someone turned the handle slowly.
Bree's heart jumped into her throat, her face became pale, and she clutched the bottle in her hand tightly.
Crack!
The bathroom door was opened. With eyes closed, Bree slammed down the bottle in her hand.
Bang!
She did it!
Before Bree had time to rejoice, her wrist was restrained by a mighty hand, and she was then pressed against the cold wall.
"Help! Help..."
With her arms pinned to her back, Bree struggled, fear seizing her like tidal waves.
"Shut up!"
Leo furrowed his brows and stared at the struggling woman with a gloomy expression on his face.
But Bree ignored his instruction.
"Help! Someone help me!"
While struggling to break herself from the man's grip, Bree waved the other hand like crazy.
Leo got scratched by the woman several times. Then, he reached out to contain the woman's restless hand.
As Bree's hands were caught and her whole body was pressed against the wall, the only thing she could move was her legs. But Leo was prepared, and his long legs pressed down on hers swiftly and easily.
Bree was horrified by the man's movements, wondering if he was going to rape her.
"Get off me! Stop it! My husband will be back soon. He won't let you go!" Bree's face went pale with fear.
"Your husband?" Leo frowned.
"Yeah! My husband is Leo Lewis. He's awesome, and if you don't want to die, leave right now!"
"Your husband is Leo Lewis?" Leo furrowed his brows more tightly. How come he did not know that he was married?
