Chapter 8 Various Intentions
As soon as Leo and Bree arrived at the Lewis Family's house, they heard the laughter coming from the living room.
Bree looked at Leo's expressionless face and wondered what was going on.
"Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, Leo is back."
The laughter in the living room came to an abrupt halt when the servant reported as if he had tripped a taboo.
"Leo's back!" Hilda got up in a hurry and came over with an inflated smile on her face." Your father's been waiting for you for a while."
With that, she turned to the servant, ordering, "Hurry up to serve the dishes."
Bree's eyes glittered.
Hervey looked at Leo, who was standing in the living room with a blank expression on his face, and the anger that had dissipated surged back into his heart.
"Do you have any idea what time it is? Were you that busy to keep the entire family waiting for you?"
"You don't have to wait if you don't want to." Leo swept over people in the room with his cold eyes.
"What kind of attitude is that?" Hervey growled and snapped, "If you didn't want to come back, you don't have to. Now you're back, why are you wearing that expression?"
Leo snorted and then turned to leave without sparing a glance at Hervey.
Bree followed after him.
Hilda furrowed her brows as she hurried forward. "What's going on? Oliver, stop your brother!"
After instructing Oliver, she comforted Hervey, "Harvey, what do you think you are doing? It's rare for Leo to come back for a family get-together. What's all the fuss about?"
"Look at you, you're scaring the hell out of Patrice!"
Hervey's expression relaxed a little at Hilda's words, but still, he could not bring himself to call out to Leo, so he snorted and walked towards the dining room.
Seeing that Oliver stopped Leo, Hilda took Patrice Watts to the dining room as well. As Hilda noticed Patrice's obsessed expression when she stared at Leo, she flashed a secretive smile.
Oliver's eyes swept covertly from Bree to Leo with a big, accommodating smile.
"Leo, you haven't come back for such a long time. Try not to make Dad mad."
Without glancing at Oliver, Leo took Bree's hand and walked to the dining room.
Bree was stunned the moment her hand was held by the man. She tilted her head to look at him and found that his face was still expressionless, and she then tamped down the urge to smile.
Oliver, who was left behind the two, looked at their backs with a meaningful, sarcastic smile.
At the table, Hervey and the others were already seated.
"Come on, Leo, sit down here!" As Hilda saw them enter, she got up, pointed at the chair next to Patrice's, and motioned for Leo to get seated.
Leo ignored Hilda, scanned the table, and casually grabbed a chair.
It was the one furthest away from Patrice's.
Bree held back a smile and sat down next to Leo.
When Oliver came in, he immediately saw Bree sitting in the corner, with the wall on one side and Leo on the other.
Oliver curled up his lips into a vague smile and then sat next to Hervey.
"This is Patrice, the daughter of the Vision Group's founder," said Hervey towards Leo, "You young people may hang out sometimes in the future."
"Mr. Lewis, please allow me to propose a toast to you!" Under Hilda's signal, Patrice got up with a blushed face, holding a glass of red wine and looking at Leo with a shy expression.
Bree, sitting next to Leo, sighed inwardly.
She thought, "Well, it seems that they simply ignore me as if I'm not here."
Bree blinked, thinking about whether to say something or not. Just then, a piece of the chicken wing was put on her plate.
She liked chicken wings.
She wanted to get herself some earlier, but they were too far from her seat for her to reach.
Bree involuntarily gave a sidelong glance at the man beside her.
"What else do you want to have?" The man's mellow voice was not exactly gentle, but it was certainly pleasant to hear.
Glancing at people at the table with various intentions, Bree was pleased.
