Chapter 12 He Left and Came Back

Before Nancy could speak, Whitney suddenly became furious and snapped to Ned.

"I knew you called her out up to no good! I'll call my mother and tell her that you bullied my classmate! You can restrict me since you're my uncle, but what makes you think you can mess with my classmate!"

Whitney turned to leave, but Nancy pulled her back, "Whitney, I'm voluntary."

"Why, are you dumb? My grades are so poor. How is it possible that I can make it into the top ten? As your friend, I didn't help you much. Never would I cause you trouble. I'll reason with my mother and ask her who my father is! How could an uncle restrict me so much? I'll figure it out if I am an illegitimate daughter of Ned!"

Whitney broke free and walked away in a huff.

Leaning back in the chair, Ned watched her act up indifferently.

Failing to pull her back, Nancy tried to chase after her, but Ned's bland voice came over, "You stay."

A bit nervous, Nancy halted her steps, turned back, and looked at the man.

She was waiting for his speech, but he only said one word.

"Eat."

While Nancy was hesitating if she should sit down, a loud crashing sound came from Whitney's room, and she turned her head.

Ned's voice turned colder, "Sit down and eat, leave her alone."

Nancy had to sit down but fidgeted because Whitney kept smashing things in the room. Nancy was worried about her safety and that she might hurt herself.

Finally, after another loud crash, Ned put down his chopsticks and trotted to Whitney's room.

Then there came a reprimand which frightened Nancy.

With the turn of events, she somehow panicked and felt guilty. In the end, she also put down her chopsticks and walked to Whitney's room.

When she got there, Whitney was choking with sobs while sweeping the glass on the floor with a broom.

Ned leaned against the door frame and watched with cold eyes.

It looked like a father educating her unruly daughter.

"I'll watch you clean it up, and then you can eat!"

"I see."

Whitney replied faintly, dumped the broken pieces into the trash can, and continued with the cleaning.

She did a clumsy job apparently because she hadn't done much housework before.

Upset with the scene, Nancy turned around to get a broom, walked into the door, and offered, "I'll do it with you."

Ned didn't object while Whitney was silent.

Together with Whitney, she swept the floor, vacuumed smaller pieces of glass, mopped the floor, and made the room tidy again.

Ned then turned away.

Sitting on the bed, Whitney held a pillow and punched it.

Nancy walked over and sat next to her, "Whitney, why are you so angry?"

While punching the pillow, she suddenly burst into tears, turned to Nancy, wiped her tears, and gasped.

She opened her mouth, "My mother talked in favor of Ned and said that I'm willful. She doesn't believe that I made a friend with the top student and thinks that all my friends are bad. I'm angry about such an accusation. Ned is bad, and his cronies grow up and establish themselves. He even patted me on my head. He must have forgotten how my grandpa lashed him with a belt when he was little. No, I should call my grandpa. This is outrageous! How dare the damned Ned pat my head!"

"Whitney! What did you say?"

Ned left and came back.
