Chapter 16 A Douche Bag

"Liz, how are you doing?"

Liz furrowed her brows.

Although by the end of her previous life, she learned Chris's real purpose for approaching her, their relationship had lasted for eight years from high school to the present.

How could Chris be so cruel to a woman who loved him so much?

Liz's voice sounded aggrieved and pitiful as her heart was covered by distress.

"I'm fine, thanks. How about you, Chris? Greg didn't make things difficult for you, did he?"

Liz said that. However, she was clear Greg had not done anything to Chris but directly let go of him.

In her previous life, when she met Chris again, he framed Greg for beating him.

In retrospect, Liz had wronged Greg countless times in the previous life.

The sense of guilt in her heart became so intense that Liz could hardly breathe.

In this life, she must make it up to Greg by punishing Kylie, the bitch, and thwarting Chris, the douche bag.

"Greg...Well, it's okay. I'm fine."

Chris started his acting.

Liz could not help but roll her eyes.

Chris deliberately did not finish his words to tempt Liz to worry about him, express her concern anxiously, and loathe Greg.

What a cunning douche bag Chris was!

Being obsessed with such an asshole was the root of Liz's failure in her previous life.

Tamping down the disgust inside, Liz replied to Chris in a concerned tone of voice.

"Chris, did Greg bully you? Did he hit you? Tell me, I'm worried."

Disgusting!

Liz felt like throwing up.

"Liz, I want to see you."

Chris finally stated his purpose of making this call.

Liz took a deep breath.

It was time for her to meet Chris anyway.

Got to be in it to win it. Liz decided she had to face the brutal reality before changing her fate.

"Okay, let's meet up at the usual place."

She sounded too impatient to wait.

Putting away the cell phone, Liz did not get up in a hurry. Instead, she closed her eyes for a while. The calmness on her face made the woman look like a different person from the anxious one a moment ago.

Their usual place of meeting was a cabin in the woods on the outskirts of town.

After recalling what had happened in the cabin repeatedly, Liz went to the third floor.

The third floor of Greg's villa was divided into two primary sections.

One was the storeroom, and the other was a vacant room.

Liz rummaged the storeroom for a while and eventually found a red ribbon.

She then made sure the ribbon was strong.

After a satisfied nod, she went downstairs with the ribbon in hand and drove off in her beloved Smart.

When she started the car, she looked back subconsciously.

Amor was not around, and no one was watching at the door.

Greg did not lie and indeed gave her freedom back.

Liz sighed.

In her previous life, Greg did not take her freedom away in the first place. However, as she repeatedly made trouble, she eventually lost his trust utterly.

With her eyes narrowed, Liz glanced at the red ribbon in her bag.

Since Chris and Kylie were on the move, Liz decided to beat them at their own game. In this life, she must avenge herself in addition to getting her love back.

Liz was familiar with the route to the meeting place.

She pulled up the vehicle in front of the cabin.

Staring at the cabin after a long separation, Liz was slightly stunned.

Even in her previous life, she had not been in this place for a long time before her death.

The first time she had come here, she has been immediately attracted by the pretty flowers and plants as well as the fresh air.

Liz remembered that at the end of the jungle, there was a lake that she loved.

Every time she stared at the lake in a daze, Chris would stand by her side in silence.

"Liz."

A gentle voice brutally broke Liz's recollection of the past.

Liz got out of the car with her head lifted.

Though the air was clean, the heart of the man before her was not.

Chris's countenance used to rank among the best at school.

Otherwise, Liz would not have become obsessed with him and turned Greg down.

"Chris, what happened to your leg?"

Chris had a crutch in his hand.

"I accidentally fell and hurt my leg. No worries."

Chris's face was covered with embarrassment.

The fictitious embarrassment was saying that what he said was not the truth.

Liz sneered inwardly but put on an angry expression and clenched her fists with her eyes wide open.

"Was it Greg? He hit you, didn't he?"

Wearing a gloomy expression, Chris hesitated for a good while before sighing in frustration.

"Liz, I'm fine. Don't worry."

Liz stomped her foot in exasperation, tears welling up in her big eyes.

"How can I not worry about it? It's all because of me. If Dad didn't get into trouble and I didn't have to marry Greg, we wouldn't have been forced to run out at the wedding, and he wouldn't have beaten you up."

Liz strained her eye sockets to prevent teardrops from shedding.

Chris looked into the woman's watery eyes. Liz's appearance was pretty and adorable, and her trying not to cry was incredibly endearing.

With his heart softened all over, Chirs subconsciously reached out to rub her hair.

"Liz, it's okay. Don't cry. I'll protect you and never leave you."

Liz looked up at him.

What a gentle liar!

The man promised to protect her.

However, all the trouble in Liz's previous life was brought by him. For such a douche bag, she even indirectly killed Greg, who really guarded her, from the start to the end.

Liz counted down in her mind.

Three.

Two.

One.

A teardrop fell.

Countless more followed.

At the same time, Liz pursed her mouth.

Chris was stunned by the woman's lovable, touching appearance.

He reached out to wipe away her tears, intending to pull her into his arms.

Just then, Liz took a half-step backward, seemingly unintentionally, and Chris's hand missed her. He froze, watching her take out a red ribbon from her bag.

"What's this?"

Liz blinked her dry eyes with a pitiful look inside.

"I read in a book that when two lovers are forced to be separated from each other, they can take a red ribbon to tie their wrists together. Then, they'll be given a chance to get back together.

Chris, let's do this, shall we?"

With that, Liz acted.

Chris flashed a weak smile, saying, "That's a tale to blindfold kids. You're too naive."

"Isn't it good to be naive sometimes?"

Liz lifted her head to reveal an innocent, childish smile at the man while tying their wrists.

If Liz were not a naive woman, how could she have been fooled by Chris in the first place?

When Chris came to his senses, his wrist and Liz's were already tied together.

"Come on, let's go inside. It's pretty windy out here."

With that, Liz raised her hand and took the lead towards the cabin.

When she reached the stairs, she narrowed her eyes secretly.

That was it.
