Chapter 12 I Need the Marriage License
"No, no, that's ridiculous."
Summer waved her hands repeatedly.
"We just met today, and I only know that your name is Howard. As CEO of Transcendent Group, you are rich and a man. You only know that my name is Summer. I'm a poor schoolgirl who ran away from the wedding. Well… to get the marriage license… I'm okay with a show, but this is too much."
After she cooled down, Howard calmly stated his reason, "I need the marriage license."
"I don't need it, Mr. Tran! You can find Spring, Autumn, and Winter, just let Summer go. Or, you could find Summer Kelly or Summer Ford."
Howard ignored her loads of excuses.
"Sir, you hired an extra today to cancel the marriage, didn't you? How is the marriage license involved?" Summer couldn't help asking again.
"Yes, but I changed my mind because of your emergence today." There was an imperceptible smile at the corners of his mouth.
"Huh?"
"Name a price." Howard restored his serious look.
"You think I'm trading? Marriage is based on love and sacredness. I don't think my marriage could be bought."
Summer was almost moved to tears by her own righteous speech.
"How do you know there is no love between us?"
Howard stared at her face with his deep eyes as if trying to see her through.
Shocked by his speech, she widened her eyes, "Don't talk nonsense. Although you are handsome and rich, your personality is strange and reserved. I… I won't like you."
"You have a boyfriend?" Howard slightly arched his eyebrow.
"No… not really." Summer awkwardly gathered the quilt.
Although she adored Lodge for almost six years, they hadn't been officially together. So, he was not her boyfriend yet.
"This is a deal. Given your current situation, you need my help, so think about it."
At the thought of the debt her father owed, the group of bandits with knives at his neck, and the 50-year-old man, Summer finally calmed down, "You mean fake marriage?"
"Sort of."
There were no other better options. Although the runaway from the wedding was a success, once she went back, she still had to pay back the gambling debt.
"Let's talk about it then, but there should be a written agreement, right? Words don't carry conviction, in the future…"
Howard took out a pen and a piece of paper from the drawer before handing them to her, "Write it down first. Tomorrow, I will have my assistant draft an electronic version and send it to you. After confirmation, we'll sign the agreement, and then it takes effect."
Now, her mind was a mess and not suitable for any discussion.
If something was amiss, she would dig her own grave.
"I'm tired. Let's talk about it tomorrow." Summer coughed dryly, ready to hit the sack.
"It must be done today."
Howard's tone was unchallengeable.
Summer looked at him helplessly, "Well then, I'll start with my requirements. First, we are only a nominal couple. You can't cross the line." While speaking, she lowered her head and wrote it down quickly.
Howard looked at her face in a trance.
When she finished writing and raised her head, he immediately stopped smiling and restored his cold look, "What if you harbor ill intentions against me?"
"What?"
Summer froze.
Did her lust manifest when she saw his pectoral muscle just now?
