Chapter 19 CEO's Tactics
The driver already opened the car door and waited there.
"Where are we going?" Summer was a bit confused as they were not heading to her school.
No one answered in the car.
"Uh, Mark Rowe, right? Since you're about Mr. Tran's age, I'll call you Mr. Rowe."
…
"Mr. Rowe, you're going the wrong way. This is not the way to Middlebury College."
…
Focusing on driving, the man didn't pick up the conversation.
"Hey, Mr. Rowe, Mr. Rowe…"
…
"His last name is not Rowe but Hughes." Howard squinted at her and spat coldly.
"Hughes? Hughes… Mr. Hughes?" Summer muttered repeatedly as he was the first person she knew who bore this family name.
"Don't call others randomly." Howard's face was visibly black with anger.
After courting a rebuff, Summer curled up her mouth to fake a smile.
Now, she didn't dare to offend this god of wealth because it was the deadline to pay off the medical bills today.
"Well, Mr. Tran, I want to talk with you."
"Nothing to talk about, the Civil Affairs Bureau is around the corner." Howard replied nonchalantly.
"What? Now? The Civil Affairs Bureau?"
What was yet to come would. Just now, such a conjecture flashed across her mind, and it really happened?
"We haven't signed the agreement yet. How can we get the marriage license without a proper discussion?"
"Are you excusing with drunkenness and faking memory loss?"
"Sir, I'm not pretending. I…"
Not in a mood to talk nonsense with her, Howard turned his head and looked out of the window.
"I didn't bring my credentials." Summer said indignantly in a sulk.
"When Mark sent your roommate back to school, he found them and brought them over."
Following his indifferent speech, Howard handed a file bag to her. She opened it and saw her ID card and residence booklet neatly lying inside.
"I have classes in the morning."
"The class at 10:30, Cecilia will help you answer the roll call."
He even made arrangements for her to skip the class. Looked like this was inevitable.
No! Not that simple.
When she told Howard about the marriage through a call, it was around 1 a.m. Early this morning, she got a full closet of clothes of her size.
Given his attitude last night, he seemed well prepared.
"You anticipated my call?" Sensing something wrong, she tried to sound him out.
"A little bit later than I expected." A smile was at the corners of his mouth.
"You set up everything? Including my parents' escape and the car accident?"
She felt heartbroken.
"I'm not that despicable as you think. I only want you." Howard stretched out his index finger and lifted her chin with a hint of anger in his eyes.
"Well… What did you do to Lodge?"
Lodge's sudden change of attitude should have something to do with this man.
"I never force anyone against his will. It's just a chance of going abroad. Between his career and you, he chose the former." Howard's face looked cold.
"Impossible! Lodge is qualified for the quota." Summer became agitated.
"The quota is sponsored by me, so I have the final say on whether one is qualified or not." Howard's anger became visible.
Daisy?
It must be her. She was the daughter of the head of the law department. Did she threaten Lodge with the quota?
Summer took a tumble.
Everyone was just a piece, and he was the chess player.
"Mr. Tran, that's brilliant tactics. How did you persuade Daisy? Sex seduction?" Summer snapped.
"It's not wise to slander your husband for another man, Mrs. Tran." Howard said fiercely.
