Chapter 14 Who Is that Kid's Father?
Effie paused for a second, then turned to verify her guess. Upon seeing the man's face clearly, she suddenly felt empty in her mind. "Edwin Bennett?"
The man then walked over to Effie. His tall figure covered the lights in the corridor, and the dark shadow completely enveloped her like a cage.
A strong sense of oppression made Effie take steps back intuitively. "What are you doing here?"
"Who is that man?" Edwin replied to Effie's question with another question, then continued walking and cornered the woman. Starting at Effie with a fearsome look in his eyes as if he would devour her at any time, Edwin put forward the second question in an even colder voice, "And who is that kid's father?"
Hearing the questions, Effie suddenly became less flustered and fearful.
She hesitated for a second to calm herself down completely before looking up at the frightful man who was close at hand.
"Mr. Bennett, aren't you going too far?" Effie looked at the man composedly, saying, "I think who they are has nothing to do with you."
With his eyes slightly squinted, Edwin replied, "Has nothing to do with me? If I remember correctly, Mrs. Bennett, we're still in a marriage."
"Marriage? Edwin, you have to be kidding me!" Effie smiled mockingly, saying, "Our relationship has ended five years ago. Also, what I married to back then was a dog but not...Ah!"
Before Effie could finish her words, her body was abruptly pressed against the wall.
Immediately, Edwin's slightly cold lips covered Effie's. The woman widened her eyes open in shock, then pushed and patted the man like mad. "Get off..."
In response, the man violently put his tongue into her mouth.
Out of anger, Effie bit Edwin's tongue hard.
The man snorted in pain and loosened Effie spontaneously.
"Damn! Are you a dog or what?" Edwin could not help but scold the woman who once bit him five years ago. It seemed that she did not lose this vice over the years at all.
Effie wiped her mouth and glared at Edwin with resentment. At the same time, witnessing the man's embarrassment and anger, she actually nursed a sense of victory inside.
"You're worse than dogs!" Effie stared at him threateningly, saying, "Edwin, listen, stay away from me. Or I will bite you whenever I see you!"
With that, she turned to walk away.
However, Edwin grabbed her wrist and yanked her to his side.
Once again, the woman was cornered by the man, and her previous arrogance disappeared instantly. "What are you doing?"
"Didn't you say you will bite me whenever you see me?" While speaking, Edwin moved his lips closer to the woman, then continued, "Show me how good you're at biting."
With that, before Effie even knew it, Edwin kissed her on the lips once again.
Effie hurried to resist but then realized that Edwin held out against her legs and pressed her hands against the wall like she was a puppet. She was deprived of any chance to fight back but had to await her doom.
What was worse, the voice control lights in the corridor suddenly went out at this moment, and darkness engulfed them in an instant. Edwin's cold, somewhat violent kissing was like a spell.
In a flash, those long-forgotten memories came back to Effie's mind, including the familiar smell and horrifying images, like a fierce beast.
At this very moment, a strong force burst inside Effie's body, and she screamed, then pushed the man away, trying to escape like crazy.
Edwin paused for one second but still grabbed the woman and debarred her from leaving, staring at her with a fearsome look in his eyes.
"Who is that kid?" The man's voice was mellow, frosty, and considerably threatening.
