Chapter 13 To Prove Her Intellect
A loser?
How dare the man call her a loser?
Alyssa intuitively wanted to refute but somehow calmed down when she lifted her head.
To a certain extent, George was right. She was indeed an academic loser. Any refutation at this moment would be impotent. Instead, it would make her sound guilty, intensify the attacks, and impress Grandpa Hunter badly.
Therefore, Alyssa chose to keep silent and lowered her head at this moment.
Alyssa's silence made Mrs. Hunter laugh. "George is smart while Emily is thoughtful. Leon, why the hell have you selected a dumb woman out of all those brilliant candidates? I'm kind of worried that your child's intellect might drag our family down. Dad, what if they really give birth to a fool?"
"Nonsense!" Grandpa Hunter gave a furious glance at Mrs. Hunter, saying, "Mind your language!"
"I'm just concerned about the next generation of our family. Seriously, what if we have a fool in the house?"
All of a sudden, Alyssa stood up, staring at Mrs. Hunter. "You can rest assured. I'll prove that my intellect is fine."
"How are you going to prove that?" Mrs. Hunter disdained.
"I will be listed one of the top ten of the grade in the next round of exams scheduled half a month later."
"Haha!" Mrs. Hunter burst into laughter. "Top ten in the grade? Are you kidding me? Emily was in tenth place last time. Are you saying that you'll surpass Emily? You wish!"
At Mrs. Hunter's words, all the three people sitting across from Alyssa laughed.
The laughter pierced her eardrums. She would have flown into a rage in the previous life.
At this moment, however, she had to tamp down her fury.
After Alyssa and Leon left the Hunter Family's old mansion for their own villa, the woman entered her room and made plans for her future studies.
In addition, she decided to pick up the piano and taekwondo, which she had given up halfway before.
Earlier, Alyssa noticed a piano in the house and guessed that Leon must know how to play it. She then thought she could take the piano as a common hobby to close the gap between them.
As for Taekwondo, she just wanted to enhance her physique and self-defense skills.
Leon was busy all day long, Alyssa decided that she should not pester him all the time as it would surely annoy him and make him look down on her.
On the other hand, if she managed to change herself in a better direction, Leon would naturally give more attention to her.
That was not hard. The reason Leon insisted on marrying her was that he liked her.
Thinking so, Alyssa felt much more confident.
After finishing making the plans, she went to bed.
The next day at noon...
Alyssa met Ella, an academic tyrant, at a bubble tea shop, and successfully borrowed notes from her.
Noticing the enthusiastic look in Alyssa's eyes, Ella asked in a gentle voice, "Is everything alright? Alyssa, as far as I know, you don't love learning."
"Yes, everything is fine. Ella, thank you." Alyssa walked up to embrace her friend. "Please accept my apologies for all my faults in the past."
Ella replied with a smile, "I shouldn't have talked to you in that tone either. You were into Ryan back then, and certainly, you would get angry when I spoke ill of him. Just don't get mad at me."
At Ella's words, Alyssa recalled that the cause of their quarrel in her previous life was Ryan, and after the squabbling, they gradually drifted away from each other.
"Alyssa, what are you thinking?" Ella stared at Alyssa cautiously. "Are you really mad at me? We grew up together. You won't discard our friendship for a guy, will you?"
"Of course not. Ella, you were right about Ryan. He is an asshole. I am now married to Leon and have nothing to do with Ryan."
"You mean it?"
Alyssa nodded while putting away the notes.
Ella flashed a bright smile, saying, "That's great! You eventually woke up."
"From now on, I'll study hard. But Ella, you know I'm an academic loser, there's so much for me to learn. Please keep helping me."
"No problem. As long as you are willing to learn, I am willing to teach."
"Okay, the bubble tea is on me. There is only half a month to go before the exams, I will go home to study and express my gratitude properly after the exams."
With that, Alyssa hurriedly went to the checkout and left with Ella's notes.
Witnessing Alyssa's behavior, Ella felt like her friend was a totally different person than before.
