Chapter 16 Fleeing in Panic
As a matter of fact, Camila knew that she couldn't blame him but found it hard to accept her behavior. It took her a long time to calm down.
"Har... Mr. Stanley, I know that I'm a frivolous woman in your mind. Whatever you think, I just want to say one thing. I was set up that day, and my body... It was not my intention." She explained.
To his ear, her explanation was a challenge to his performance that night. She found it shameful to do it with him?
"You don't have to explain so much cuz I'm not interested."
Without saying another word, she turned to leave. Although the ship hadn't gone to the shore, she could at least avoid him.
"Stop! Trying to run away again?"
The situation was different this time. Not asleep, how would he watch her slip away?
Harden stretched out his big hand, grabbed her arm, and knitted his brows. His eyes were blazing, and he sulked.
"What do you mean? Is it shameful to sleep with me?"
His remark hurt her feelings and echoed in her mind. Vigorously she shook off his hand, and her eyes were filled with desperation.
"It's not... what I mean. I just find myself shameful, okay? Please let me go."
'What is this woman thinking? A trick to please me?
To make me think that she is an innocent, kind woman?'
For a time, Harden put a lot of tags on her and fiddled with the watch around his wrist. Held back by his status, he didn't chase her again. He fancied himself that a woman like Camila was easy to get.
Camila trotted to the bow certainly with no intention of jumping off. She just stood there in a daze and looked at the calm sea, but her agitation wouldn't subside.
She covered her face with her hands and frantically ruffled her hair like a crazy person!
'Why can't I get over it? He and I are just strangers. Couldn't I just pretend that nothing has happened?'
She mulled it over and felt it necessary to find the culprit! Victoria! The whole thing arose from her. Why did she do that? Camila racked her brains but couldn't figure out the reason. At that moment, she just wanted to get off the ship, go back to the hotel for a good rest, and return home tomorrow morning. Some things were unavoidable, and she should fix them!
"Harden, why are you here alone? Where is she?"
A drunk Patrick staggered up.
Harden fumed, even more, to smell alcohol from his body and shook off his hand with disgust.
"She left, don't mind her!"
'What happened?' From his expression, Patrick sensed something wrong. The surprise sobered him up, and he widened his eyes in confusion.
Harden continued.
"She learned who I am, so..."
He found it too embarrassing to go on with his speech! Mr. Stanley failed to get a woman? If this got out, he would have no face to establish himself in the circle.
Patrick shook his head and asked wonderingly.
"What? How?"
He couldn't imagine how she recognized Harden, but they had been refraining from mentioning his name.
