Chapter 4 Putting on a Show with Me
Wesley took out a cigarette, lit it, and held it in his mouth. After quite some time... he blew a smoke ring and asked with hazy eyes, "Jennifer, are you serious?"
Jennifer tittered, "Of course not, just put on a show with me."
The corner of his mouth curved up into a smirk, and he feigned sadness, "Poor me, I've been waiting for you for over ten years. When I finally hear about marriage... it's fake. Alas, my heart is broken!"
"Knock it off!" Jennifer arched her brow, "So many pretty girls are around you! It's known to everyone that Mr. Tucker has a lot of good fortune in love affairs and your girlfriends are all stunners. I'm really worried that..."
"Come on..." Wesley took the cigarette out of his mouth.
The room quieted down, and Wesley put away the playful smile on his face. Along with it, his voice turned very serious, "To show it to Ethan?"
"Uh-huh!" Jennifer admitted frankly.
"When? I'll get prepared!" Wesley threw away the cigarette butt.
"Tomorrow!"
Wesley lost his cool, "So urgent? How am I supposed to get everything ready? It's a wedding after all, and I don't want you to have a hasty one."
"Relax, it's just a show." Jennifer sounded composed, "Besides, haste creates a better effect."
"Do you think Ethan will buy it?" Wesley asked worriedly.
Jennifer smiled broadly, "Wouldn't that be better? If the fake marriage became real, you would suffer for the rest of your life."
"Jennifer, I don't like such an assumption." Wesley frowned.
If this were in the past, he would dance for joy and announce to the whole world that he was the happiest man.
Now he knew it well that he was not the one who could bring her happiness.
Therefore... he had moved on a long time ago and stayed with her as a friend till... she found her soulmate.
"Wesley, why didn't you ask me why I'm holding a fake wedding?" Jennifer looked at the man and suddenly asked softly.
Wesley walked up and held her shoulders gently, "Jennifer, I know you must have a reason. Only I won't ask if you don't want to tell me. One thing for sure, no matter what decision you make, I'll support you unconditionally."
"I'll always be on your side."
Jennifer hugged him back, "Wesley, thank you for trusting me so much and standing beside me when the whole world abandoned me."
But... such an emotion only lasted a few seconds. She got out of his arms and smiled again, "I'll leave the rest to you. I'll just be waiting to be a bride tomorrow."
"What a simple-minded woman!" Before his eyes, she soon disappeared.
If possible, he hoped that she could be forever simple-minded and happy. However... what happened in the past had been her worst nightmare. Trapped in the darkness, she was lonely and desperate!
As soon as Jennifer went out of the building, Ethan's cell phone rang.
"Sir, Miss Stewart came out of Tucker Group." Someone reported.
"Follow her!" Ethan instructed.
About an hour later, another report came in, "Sir, Miss Stewart went to an isolated cabin."
"Be specific, what is she doing there?" Ethan asked in a sullen voice.
