Chapter 15 You Can Sell Your Daughter

"Mary, stop dancing, come and meet President Zimmer."

As soon as Mary finished the dance, she was dragged out of the dance floor.

The dragger was none but Lynn, the wife of her second uncle.

Mary looked over with cold eyes, "Lynn, anything?"

"Mary, meet President Zimmer. I've mentioned it to you before. The betrothal gifts from President Zimmer are already delivered to our home, and you should take a stand. Don't let him down."

Mary raised her head and saw a filthy man with a big belly looking her up and down. His sordid gaze disgusted her.

"President Zimmer, when would you like to get the marriage license?"

Lynn showed a smiley face.

Talbot walked up with two cups of wine and handed one to President Zimmer, "President Zimmer, we will soon be a family. Mary is young, willful, and petulant. Please be tolerant."

It happened so suddenly and inexplicably that everyone on the dance floor stopped moving and gazing over.

Mary's brows furrowed Slightly. What did they mean?

"Mary, are... you going to marry President Zimmer?"

One of Mary's admirers was struck dumb.

President Zimmer was at her father's age.

Mary soon came to her senses. Narrowing her eyes, she smiled, "Lynn, you made a mistake. You can sell your daughter. After all, you gave birth to them, and you have the right. Selling your niece, however, is illegal."

Never had she expected the damn couple to marry her to President Zimmer, a man whose wife just passed away.

Mary's words were straightforward and bold, giving no regard to the dignity of the couple.

However, Mary now had lost her patrons, and they feared her not. With discontent, Talbot looked at his niece, "Mary, President Zimmer has been admiring you, and you know that. Besides, he and you quite got along. In front of us, you agreed to President Zimmer's proposal. Now his betrothal gifts have been delivered to our home. How could you go back on your words?"

"Mary, conduct yourself and go to President Zimmer."

Talbot assumed great airs of a senior.

There came an uproar.

Someone couldn't help but ask, "President Yeates, what is this? Mary is going to marry President Zimmer?"

Talbot turned to that man, nodded his head, and replied calmly, "Here is the thing. When Mary's parents passed away, President Zimmer helped a lot out of his affection for Mary."

"Now Mary is all alone. She is arrogant and doesn't know how to deal with things in life. So, with President Zimmer by her side, I can rest my mind at ease."

"President Yeates, but... their age difference is too great."

"Indeed, by the way, if President Yeates wants someone to take care of Mary, here are many admirers of her. Wouldn't Yeates Family consider them?"

Such an incisive question was like a slap in Talbot's face.

Even so, Talbot had been used to be shameless and didn't care much about his dignity. Facing such a biting question, he laughed on the spot, "Young people are too callow to settle down. It is better for Mary to stay with President Zimmer."

"Mary, come on."

Lynn suddenly pushed Mary.

Mary lost her balance and fell towards President Zimmer.

At this, President Zimmer immediately reached out and wanted to take advantage of the beauty in the public.

But Mary hit a wall of flesh and then regained her balance.
