Chapter 8 I Can Help You Get Everything Back

Chris narrowed his eyes, put his hands in his trouser pockets, and looked her up and down with a smile, "If I'm not mistaken, your name is Jessica Blake, and you are 22 years old. Your father, Joseph Blake, went to prison for corruption. Your mother died of a heart attack because she couldn't accept this fact. Am I right?"

Jessica's eyes widened with surprise, and she felt a chill down her spine, "How can you know this?"

She didn't know him. How did he know her affairs so clearly?

"What do you think?" The man did not answer her but turned and walked into the living room. He poured himself a glass of water, sat on the sofa leisurely, picked up the remote control, and turned on the TV.

Jessica gritted her teeth and followed him.

"You have not answered my question!"

"Who doesn't know about Joseph Blake's accident in the business world? I read the news."

He just glanced at her lazily and squinted his eyes, "My carpet is made of cashmere. Aren't you going to change clothes?"

Hearing what he said, Jessica glanced at herself. Indeed, her white sweater dress was all soaked, and even the outline of her bra inside was faintly exposed, which was really embarrassing.

Besides, she also felt a little cold.

Jessica quickly opened her suitcase and took the dry clothes out. She excused herself, quickly went into the bathroom to put on clean clothes, and came out.

"Sit down!" When she came out wearing a black sweater and black trousers, her pale face looked even paler. It looked pitiful, and Chris just glanced at her and spoke lightly.

Jessica sat down across from him and looked straight into his eyes, "Who are you?"

She didn't know the man in front of her, but he apparently knew everything about her. This feeling made Jessica very uncomfortable, and she felt that she was seen through.

"Chris Maddox." He replied succinctly.

Jessica was surprised.

"I do not know you."

Chris Maddox was a famous man. Few young girls in Jakesville City hadn't heard his name. They all said that he was a most eligible bachelor because he was handsome and rich, and he was a dream lover of many single women.

Jessica had never thought that one day she would speak with him face to face.

"Well, women usually say they know me. You are the first woman to say that you don't know me." Chris laughed and put his hands on his crossed legs, "Jessica Blake, I can help you get back whatever you have lost, including clearing your father's name."

He had always liked to do things decisively and hated procrastination. Regarding Jessica's current situation, he knew where to start to achieve his goals faster.

Jessica's eyes lit up as expected, but they soon darkened. "What's the price?"

She was not a naive little girl, and she had never known him. Why would he help her like this? He must want something from her.

Jessica didn't know if she could pay such a high price.

"You're a brilliant woman."

Nodding appreciatively, Chris was satisfied with Jessica's response, "You can afford to pay the price, and that is to marry me."

"What?"

Jessica almost thought that there was an auditory hallucination!

She couldn't believe that the man, who she had just met once and had spent less than two hours, was making such a request to her.
