Chapter 7 Bold Janice
Everyone looked over in Janice's direction.
Three seats in front of her sat Reina White, whose eyes were tainted with disdain, "The principal is correct. If I performed so poorly, I would not have the nerve to stay here. Too ashamed to show my face, I'd drop out on my own."
"What has this got to do with you?" Janice furrowed her brow and looked over coldly.
Reina crowed, "Poor students waste educational resources, and everyone has the right to oppose it."
"This is none of your business. There isn't a clause in the school rules that says poor students will be expelled." Janice said blandly.
Her attitude was harsh, cold, and snippy.
Her vibe was tough.
In Reina's view, she was bluffing to avoid being expelled. Her manner was threatening, but her heart was cowardly. "The clause formed today. Didn't the principal just announce it?"
"There should be a buffer before any new rule rolls out." Janice would not yield an inch, "According to Mr. Pierce, this is my last test."
"Humph! It's just a waste of time."
The two argued.
The others fell silent, and some of them gasped.
Holy cow! Janice had no deep background and had the guts to diss Reina.
She was really bold.
Did she have a death wish?
Reina's father was a gangster and an omnipotent figure in Carmel City.
No one in this school dared offend the only daughter of the White Family.
Besides, she was on good terms with the two sisters of the Harris Family who intended to marry into the Marshal's House. Therefore, she threw her weight about and acted domineeringly at school. In the class, everyone tried to curry favor and side with her.
Rumor had it those who offended her were all gone without a trace!
Janice was so dead!
"Shut up!" As Janice messed up with his patron, the headmaster flared up, "Janice, conduct yourself. You've violated the rules by arguing with your classmate and disrupting the class. Stop making a scene, pack up, and leave now."
"I refuse."
Janice's attitude was lax.
In Mr. Pierce's view, the girl would be ashamed of his speech and leave on her own.
Surprisingly, she was so stubborn. The corner of his mouth twitched with anger, "I'm calling the security guards to throw you out!"
Janice clenched her fists till her knuckles made cracking sounds, "You wanna play it the hard way? Try me. I entered this school fairly and squarely. Even though you're the headmaster, it's not your call to decide on my stay or leave."
Those security guards had never received any professional training.
She could beat ten of them by herself.
"How dare you talk to Mr. Pierce like that! He is the principal of this school! And you… you threaten him with violence?" Reina found it hard to believe that Janice intended to make a move. Meanwhile, she scoffed, "You're being disrespectful to your teacher."
Reina's sidekicks echoed, "Indeed, disrespectful students don't deserve this school even if they get straight As, and you're nothing but a poor student."
"Pack up and leave, Janice!"
Reina started this and then affectedly acted as a peacemaker, "Guys, we shouldn't go down to her level. She is not worthy! This test is Janice's last chance. After this, we'll have a fair reason not to see her face again."
Her sidekicks laughed harshly, expecting to see Janice expelled.
Some of the boys showed pitiful faces. It was a shame that such a pretty girl would be driven away by the domineering lady.
Janice was good-looking but had no power. No one was so foolish as to stand up for her.
"Hmm, Janice, since Reina said so, I'll let you take the test and leave." Mr. Pierce barked. The headmaster was bribed by the White Family and certainly should work for them.
Janice asked unhurriedly, "What's the grade for me to stay?"
"At least 90." Mr. Pierce sneered. The test papers, airmailed from Imperial City, were awfully difficult.
The students were unaware of it, but the grade betrayed Mr. Pierce's intention to make things hard for Janice.
Asking a slacker to get 90 points? That was mission impossible!
Janice responded firmly, "90 points is too little and contradictory to the high standard of this posh school. I'd say 100."
"Are you sure, Janice?" As she asked for her doom, Mr. Pierce curled his lips.
Janice nodded, "Uh-huh, if I fail, I'll drop out on my own."
"Good." Mr. Pierce was delighted to hammer the final nail in her coffin and fulfill his promise to Reina.
The test papers were handed out.
Janice held the pen without writing anything.
Like a lazy cat before a nap, she half-narrowed her eyes.
Apparently, Mr. Pierce was in cahoots with Reina. They aimed to kick her out of this school.
At school, she barely talked to anyone. Her only hobby was sleeping in class. How did she offend Reina?
Two-thirds of the time had passed.
Janice still hadn't figured out the reason.
On her paper, only the scrawl of her name was written.
At this experimental school, the students had stylish names.
And Janice's name was traditional.
She was such a bumkin. Why did Cristian take a liking to such a fool? Because of her pretty face?
Every time Reina saw her, she couldn't help but taunt inwardly.
When Mr. Pierce walked by, he saw Janice's paper cleaner than her face.
He sneered. Did he need to expel such a fool in person? What a waste of resources!
There were only 20 minutes left.
Janice suddenly started to write quickly.
The test was designed by a professor from Imperial College.
The questions were quite new.
People weak in comprehension probably could not even understand them.
This was an elite class.
But most of the students were scratching their heads and writing with difficulty.
Janice just skimmed the questions.
Then she quickly wrote down the solutions.
From the podium, Mr. Pierce watched and scoffed under his breath.
Could she even understand the questions?
Even if they were written in plain prose, she might not necessarily comprehend.
She filled in every blank of the test papers so that she would feel less embarrassed when she got expelled, right?
Janice, you should be sorry for offending the White Family.
When she left school, the news would be published in the school magazine and bulletin board.
Her photo and test papers would be printed.
By then…
She probably had no nerve to stay in Carmel City anymore.
