Chapter 3 Leader of the Haney Family
This man had a business empire and stood at the top of the pyramid.
No one dared mess up with him.
Davian pulled a straight face and fought back his anger, "Mr. Haney, you're joking, right?" He glanced at Kimora sullenly and continued, "Please excuse me, I should go see a patient."
Following that, he hurried off.
The tension was instantly relieved. Kimora calmly snapped her gaze back before speaking politely, "Thank you."
Murphy Haney laid his solemn eyes on the badge of her white gown.
Kimora Guthrie?
Wasn't she the very woman who had a ridiculous one-night stand with him? What a small world!
A flash of amazement crossed his mind, but he walked away silently following an indifferent glance at her.
The clacks from his leather shoes faded away in the bright and clean corridor. Kimora's eyelashes dropped as exhaustion once again got the better of her. She rubbed her temples and went off in the opposite direction.
In a VIP ward on the third floor, Davian sat at the bed with a gloomy expression.
The woman on the sickbed looked ashen. As soon as her eyes opened, scalding tears rolled off.
"Davian..."
Her voice was terribly hoarse and her fingernails dug deep into the flesh of her palm.
Before the surgery, she told Kimora to save her child. That bitch didn’t listen and even had her uterus removed. It was a death sentence for her fertility!
Zoie dropped her eyes to conceal her rage. Imagine how much she wanted to tear Kimora apart!
She swore to get her revenge!
His face solemn, Davian grabbed her cold hand, "I'm here for you."
Zoie clenched her teeth to suppress her resentment and asked in a faint voice, "I… can't bear children again, right?"
Like a needle, her hoarse voice pricked his heart. Davian tightened his grip, "Against all odds, I'll protect you."
Her eyes red, Zoie choked with sobs, "It was all my fault. If I didn't insist on being with you, Kimora wouldn't have…" She hesitated in her speech and bit her lip, "If the loss of my child could make Kimora feel better, I… would feel better. I know that she was mad. Don't blame her."
Her tears fell incessantly despite her effort to restrain her grief.
Davian's eyes were gloomy and thick with rage, "I won't let this pass so easily! You lost the child and womb for me. Kimora, that viper, I'll make her pay!"
"Davian, it was not Kimora's fault but because of me…" Her eyes turned crimson.
"Stop talking, take a rest, and get well." Davian interrupted her overbearingly.
The haggard woman closed her eyes. Her heart was filled with hatred and pleasure.
Kimora, wait and see! My life was ruined, and yours would be too!
Outside the ward, the day was breaking. Kimora looked at the arms of the clock that pointed to six o'clock. Her shift was finally over. She quickly took off the white gown, pulled on her coat, and headed towards the exit.
She had over two hours of surgery and stayed up all night. At that moment, she was tired out.
She hailed a taxi to go home. After pushing the door open, she entered the quiet living room and spotted Davian sitting on the milk-white sofa. Motionless, he looked sullen.
The atmosphere was depressing and chilling.
She glanced at the man, ignored him, changed her shoes, and headed to the bedroom.
When she passed the sofa, her wrist was abruptly grabbed, "You killed my child and act as if nothing happened."
The cold air about him assaulted her. Kimora dropped her eyes and stated in an icy voice, "I have nothing to say, let go."
Davian fumed, exerted more strength, flung her down on the sofa, and pressed his knee against her legs, "You killed my child, and I'll take yours!"
Following that, he gnawed her neck quickly and heavily.
Amid his panting, Kimora looked all indifferent.
It angered him even more. "How dare you give me that attitude!" The expression on his face turned gloomy, and he tore at her clothes roughly.
